Can you disassemble these like you can with the hd 650s? Also I'm trying to decide between these and the hd 58x Jubilee's if anyone has any suggestions. I'd be using them for gaming, keep in mind I don't already own an amp.

Hi ! Yes you can disassemble them as 650 600 or 58x. HD58X will be less amp- dependant as it is 150Ohms whereas 6XX is 300 ohms. 6XX scales better with top-notch amps. Sound : flat response for both - 6XX is more revealing in high mids - while hd58x has just a bit more sub-bass and less treble. Soundstage is a bit narrow but imaging is VERY precise and a bit 3d-like. I have AKG 712 pro, dt 770 Pro 80 ohms and since I bought hd58x this is my everyday pair of cans. Would be the same with 6XX I guess...:) Both are good, for mobile use hd58x is slightly better I think. Just my 2 cents :)

As far as I know they are exactly the same as the 650. So should be able to disassemble them. And what motherboard you got? If you don't plan on getting an amp, you should look into what soundcard/chip is in your MB.

I have the AKG 712PRO, the 6XX and 58X. I prefere the sound of the AKG 712 to the other two which are still good but not so detailed like the 712. Voices, Strings, Cymbals, Trumpets, Saxophones... All these sounds better to me on the 712Pro with any Amps and gear I have tried. Waiting on the THX 789 to see how they sound on that. Between the 58X and the 6XX I prefere the 58X personally if I had to choose one. I have a phone LG V20 and these Sennheiser 58X sound sooooo good with it. Just easier to drive with everything you have and sound is marginally better imo as it has better bass extension and better mids...

hmmm 712 pro was my preferred pair of cans until I got hd58x. ...still love them but frequency response is a bit weird, though they are quite revealing I agree with you on that
