Raise the price 10% at the end of a "Massdrop"?!? By definition, that's not a Massdrop, the principle upon which this site was founded. This is sheer profit taking. Shame on you MD!

Yea, I actually was coming back thinking about buying these or possibly the 58x...but you're right. The whole point of this site is group buys and discounts. They're just pushing as much FOMO as they can. They probably are struggling a bit. Too bad. There are some occasions where Massdrop has better pricing and the site/model is a good idea. Not always, I know, it's hard to compete with Amazon. Sometimes though there's some good deals. Bummer it might not be working out for them. They'll likely just try to pivot into these kind of exclusives. The problem there is to get a good price you have to gamble on the product.

Yeah if you sell 10 you get 10% off, if you sell 10,000 then you pay 10% extra. Economy of scale folks. Ask Apple.

Just wanted to chime in here about a couple of things -- while we began as a group-buy site, and do have some products that still use that mechanic, we in large part don’t use that model anymore when it comes to Massdrop Made products. Our guiding principle has always been value, and we’ll always strive for that no matter how we grow.

I’m sorry, but you can ice this cake however you want. The customer base has deemed your price increase an absolutely unacceptable scam. That, in business terms, means you are doing harm to your own business.

I hear ya. I know it's not a group buy per se. However it's still a deal site and that "value" is rather hard to determine when you can't see/try the final product. It's a gamble. I literally find myself right now gambling between the Meze 99 Noir (which popped in my inbox again today) and this 85x Jubilee. Or neither, I don't know. Not only is there a timer here on both, but they are also both alterations of something else. So even if I were to read reviews on the "original" versions, it's not the same. So now I hate feeling this uncertainty. Is closed back better here because I may use them in an office? Which one is better for bass? Who knows because the sound is altered on both. Maybe by a small degree, but again, who knows. So "value" is tough to realize and measure.
