What cables for these would be good under $50 i could maybe do under $100
TheacebaseI don't know much about cables. What in particular are you looking for? Shorter? Balanced?
TheacebaseI think the cables that come with these are pretty good, nice high-purity copper. But, if you need longer cables or a different termination (like balanced), I had a really good value from Wireworld in your price range. And if you were willing to spend a bit more on larger gauge cables (smaller number, because gauge is measured weird), Cardas and Norne Audio are also able to make appreciable upgrades... but not sure about your budget. Way out of your (and my) budget, the BEST cable upgrade I ever heard was a DanaCable for an HD 800, specifically My HD 800. A friend brought his cable by during my bachelor’s party, and I was all set to have a teeth grinding, splitting hairs “am I imagining things?” session of concentration, but the moment I first heard my headphones with that cable it was clear that it was a substantial upgrade... clearer, like there was less resistance on the sound, but it was an improvement felt in every aspect (soundstage, imaging, bass, refinement, smoothness, etc). It's good to ask though. It takes some exploration to find good cables that actually improve the sound. There are many cables that sound only just-as-good as the stock cables but cost plenty of money, and so asking always kicks a bee-hive of debate on whether cables vary in quality at all. I personally was open minded, then I couldn’t hear a difference between a pair of Sony’s equipped with stock/Kimber Cable upgrades, so I became a non-believer until my friend brought that Dana Cable, and then I also heard really bad cables that came stock with older Philipps headphones. Getting a 4.4mm balanced cable for my HD 660 S also made all the difference between tolerating that headphone on the Sony ZX300 (with a 3.5mm single ended cable), and actually enjoying it on the Sony ZX300 with the 4.4mm balanced cable (the Sony outputs about 4x as much power with its balanced connection). In that situation, it was more about the fact that the ZX300 music player’s SE output is more limited than the balanced output, so it was more like I had the right cable to connect to the better amp. If I didn’t explain clearly or you have further questions, please ask. Still “recovering” from Christmas!
EvshrugBy the way, I was looking over Wireworld’s website... it appears they may have taken down the option for headphone cables! They might still make you one if you called them, but I have a hard time thinking of a low-priced cable that sounds any better than the stock cable (maybe worse). Sennheiser’s 4.4mm Pentaconn cable that was bundled with the HD 660 S is $260 sold separately! The cable that comes with the HD 6XX is pretty good though, and if you want a longer 6.5mm (1/4”) terminated cable, it looks like the 2m stock HD 650 cable is on sale right now for like $11: https://en-us.sennheiser.com/accessories--hd-650--cable Aftermarket cables for the HD 6XX and HD 58X Jubilee (same connectors) pop up on Drop fairly frequently as well. I just don’t have personal experience with them in particular.
