Just bought these and waiting for shipping. Quick question. Is the amp required? And what does it do?

reikidoFor some studio quality headphones, you'll need an amp to boost the signal enough to sound their best. Will they still work without an amp...probably, but then they'd sound like $10 headphones. It wouldn't be worth the money to get these headphones without an amp. The headphones will never reach their potential.

reikidoI'm still waiting for my headphones to ship, but I ordered a Schiit Magni 3+. Been using it a few days with my Skullcandy Hesh 2 Wireless and I can't believe how much better sounding even those cheap headphones are. So I'd definetly would recommend the Magni 3+. It's $119. You'll need a 3.5mm to RCA cable too, there's a bunch from various online retailers for $5 to $10.
