Hey everyone, Just wanted to chime in about the shipping delays. This is a major issue that's affecting us and- quite obviously the entire industry. Our primary warehouse is in New Jersey, which is a hotspot for COVID19 and there are various state laws/restrictions/curfews that are impacting our ability to ship packages out. Our warehouse staff are working as hard as they safely can to get packages moving and we're allocating resources to be as efficient as possible (this means we're not always following First in, First out, order processing, etc). We've recently gotten swamped with even more HD6XX orders than usual (apparently because Amazon's ship date on HD650 is May 6th, so people are coming to us instead), so that's further exacerbating our backlog. Suffice to say, we're moving as quickly as we can given the circumstances and appreciate your patience. Emailing customer support will not affect when your order gets sent out (they don't control dispatch dates). The length/size of the backlogs vary because we sometimes will assign all staff on a specific date to just ship a handful of products (i.e. just HD6XX, and HD58x on Wednesday) because it's faster/more efficient then sending 10 orders of 100 different products. What that means is that we can't give firm updates on how long/bad the backlog will be for any given product. We are prioritizing HD6XX since it's our #1 best seller, so this situation should be less extreme sooner rather than later. We're doing our best under extremely difficult circumstances and appreciate your patience. April 15th update: As of this moment, all orders received prior to April 14th have shipped. We're fully caught up on shipping the HD6XX (for now). A) we'll likely get behind again in the coming days as we focus on 'catching up' on other products, B) We're low on stock on the HD6XX, so if you're on the fence I suggest you place your order sooner rather than later.

April 24th update: Current shipping delays are about 5 business days.

April 27th update: We're currently caught up with orders that were placed on/prior to April 20th. i.e. we're 5 business days, 7 calendar days behind. That should continue to be the pace for most of this week.

April 28th update: We're caught up to orders prior to April 22nd(Corrected).

May 1st Update: We're caught up to orders placed prior to April 27th. I.e. we're still running at roughly 5 business days behind.

May 5th Update: Everything placed prior to April 28th has shipped, about half of the orders from the 28th have shipped, and some of the orders from the 29th are done. Tomorrow we should finish all 28/29th orders, and hopefully some of the 30th orders too. We're still firmly in the ~5 business day lag range.

May 8th Update: Everything bought prior to May 4th has shipped (and almost all of the May 4th orders as well). We're almost out of inventory in our warehouse but a shipment from Sennheiser is expected early/mid next week. Once that shipment is gone it'll be 4-6 weeks before the next shipment arrives.

May 15th Update: The Sennheiser shipment that was supposed to arrive hasn't come in yet, we're following up with them to get an update on when we can expect it. Those units were earmarked to be shipped out this week to existing orders, so that's the cause for the shipping delay. We expect to get an update later today.

May 15th Update #2: No response from Senn yet, probably won't hear until next week. Rest assured, as soon as they get the shipment to us, we'll get the pending orders shipped out (this exact same thing happened with the PC37x last week).

May 18th Update: Sennheiser told us that our HD6XX shipment will be dispatched on Tuesday, which means it'll arrive at our warehouse on Wednesday or Thursday. As soon as it arrives we'll be unpacking and shipping it. Thanks for your patience on this. We've got about ~300 units left of this shipment to sell, otherwise you'll likely have to wait until mid/end June for the next shipment.

May 19th Update: Our shipment is delayed a day, won't ship to us until tomorrow, meaning Thursday/Friday to us at the earliest. Will update again with more info when I get it.

May 21st Update: Note these are no-longer in stock. There is a [Pre-Order] button, and an estimated ship date of June 30th. Those who ordered on/prior to May 20th, your order will ship shortly (as soon as our order from Sennheiser arrives, which should be in the coming days.

May 21st Update #2: The trucking company has made an appointment to deliver the HD6XX units on Friday May 22nd at 9AM. Assuming no complications, it'll get unloaded, received, and we'll immediately start shipping these back out to everyone who ordered (on/prior to May 20th). We're looking into running a weekend shift on Saturday/Sunday to also help get "caught up" and get these shipped out sooner. Will provide more updates as I get more info on the timing and cadence of this delivery, thanks for hanging in there! For new orders, the June 30th ship date is likely going happen a couple weeks sooner than that, but we're leaving it at June 30th since there's a very vocal minority who wants us to be conservative with our ship date and "underpromise and overdeliver". I'll provide some discussion updates here as that shipment evolves (I think they're still being made, then need to be moved from Europe to NA.)

May 22nd Update: Shipment arrived this morning and everything went smoothly. Over 500 units have already shipped out, and they're getting through more of them. There is an optional shift on the weekend, but productivity will depend on how many people show up to work.. on memorial day weekend.... (I'm not too optimistic).

May 22nd Update #2: 800+ units have shipped as of 3pm EST. PS, they don't ship on a strict-FIFO basis, that's basically impossible (or at least terrible inefficient) when you have 10 people packaging and shipping out the same thing. Everyone gets stacks of orders, boxes get packed, things get scanned into the system in different order, boxes get loaded onto the truck in a different order etc etc. Everything will be shipped by Tuesday at the latest (Monday is a holiday), hopefully sooner.

May 22nd Update #3: Looks like just over 1000 units shipped today, and a little under 300 remain. We've asked to make this a priority over the weekend (read the notes above). Unclear how many will get done/shipped on the weekend (hopefully all of them), anything left will be shipped on Tuesday. Have a great weekend and stay safe.

May 25th: Kinda funny, kinda not... precisely 10 orders were shipped out over the weekend.. So I'm guessing one person showed up for about 30 minutes and then went home (or out to join the Memorial day festivities). Anyways, this is highest priority on Tuesday and the remaining ~300 orders should ship out.

May 26th: ~50 orders left to ship. Rest should be done in the next hours or so. Still trying to get an update from Senn about the next shipment and whether we can get it made/shipped to us sooner than the end of June. The most likely scenario is that they split the order into two shipments and air-freight us the first half early.

May 26th Update #2: Everything has shipped out! Thanks for your patience, I'm going to shut this thread down and start a new one in a day or two since the size of it (over 100 comments long) is getting a little unruly. To everyone who just got (or will soon get) their pair of headphones, please leave a review/photo and get your drop reward points!! Happy listening.

I'm sure millions out here see this: Estimated ship date is Apr 13, 2020 PT., Then it was Estimated ship date is Apr 14, 2020 PT. , Today it is Estimated ship date is Apr 15, 2020 PT. tomorrow the same ? Great "SUCKER-BAIT", Stupid fools like me will fall for that bull and place an order. I see you take the money fast, that didn't slow down, it should be taken when you ship and not before, I bet that would speed things up I bet well, guess I'll just have to learn to read the "DISCUSSIONS" first before I ever place another order here !

KevinThanks for the update. Given the unusual circumstances, I feel the customers should be more understanding and patient. The logistical challenges are unprecedented, we understand. However, I agree with klamp54 that you should be more transparent with the expected ship dates. Your post above should automatically show up/embedded at the point of checkout, so customers can make an informed decision BEFORE they place their orders. Having said that, kudos to the people who are working hard to keep things going. Hopefully, you are taking precautions to protect your employees.

KevinI'll be surprised if you guys get very many repeat orders, I was going to place one but took the time to read this mess you caused yourself, don't blame it on covid 19 either, all you had to do was to stop taking orders and open again when all the items are shipped first. Why are you taking their money before shipping ? I would never do any business like that.

KevinIf you see down below theres a list of us that did not get our orders shipped out yet. I believe that COVID is slowing you down but the fact that customers that ordered on a later date get theirs shipped out first is not fair. You guys can't blame COVID for the mistake that people ordering on a later date gets their first. Its my first drop purchased and Im definitely upset.

Filbert0oCOVID directly doesn't explain the fact that we're shipping orders in a non-FIFO sequential way, what COVID does create is massive disruption to our established business practices which; as a result causes mistakes and errors as we do our best to keep operating through a very challenging time. For example, with our short-handed warehouse operations, we've asked people tasked to work with other company's shipping operations to come help us out when they have excess capacity. Insufficient training leads to them "Grabbing orders from the wrong pile, etc" causing orders to ship out of sequence. Another example would be the 3 people who are in charge of international shipments calling in sick for 2 days; and the remaining workers shipping domestic shipments instead of waiting around, causing orders to ship out of sequence. Another example would be the UPS driver missing a pallet of boxes when they do their nightly pickup, causing orders to ship out of sequence. Another example is DHL unilaterally shutting down deliveries to 5 countries while our packages are mid-transit, and us having to sort out how to get them return to sendered, received, and reshipped to customers. Another example is the fact that about half of our users are seeing this note: "Note: This item is in stock and normally ships within 1 business day. However, due to the impact of COVID-19, order shipments may be temporarily delayed. Your payment method will be charged after checkout. Cancellations are accepted up to 2 hours after checkout." and about half are not, due to website version testing causing a misalignment of expectations. You name it, we've had to deal with it, and... I'll once again repeat that we're doing the best that we can, like everyone else. I say this with utmost respect to everyone, if you don't have the patience or understanding to accept that the world is very different, difficult and challenging, please ask for a refund and we'll gladly give it to you. All we want to do is get as much stuff into people's hands as quickly as possible, and although "great customer service and proactive communication" is something we strive for, it simply isn't our highest priority right now.

KevinYou're doing great and I appreciate someone from the company updating us on what's happening but most people either don't care or don't really understand what you are saying, (I'm talking about the people that don't care) and some can't seem to put the logic that if a large company like Amazon is starting to struggle with their shipping because of COVID-19 maybe smaller companies would be in a slightly worst condition.

KevinThanks Kevin for the explanation! What I really wanted was just some clarity of the situation because it was over 12 days and not a clear answer was given to me/us. Also reading what’s happening with other people situation made it more upsetting like I think one customer tried to refund but the customer support said they can’t get a refund. Another customer asked for at least the expedited shipping cost refunded but it was a long process and they only ended up getting store credit. So help those customer out to.

We do have shipments scheduled to arrive in the future, but A) these may or may not be impacted/delayed by COVID-related issues, B) these may or may not be able to be shipped to us sooner than our established schedule. Obviously we're trying to get as many from Senn as quickly as we can, but I've learned not to promise anything until it's physically on our premises because wild things are happening these days. If we don't get a replenishment shipment soon, we'll likely be completely sold out in 7-10 days.

KevinHi Kevin, Do you have any idea about where you can buy a replacement cord for the HD6xx? The cords for the HD 580, 600 and 650 are supposed to be interchangable, but I have found that is not the case for the HD6xx (I tried fitting the cord of my old HD580 into the HD6xx and it doesn't fit. Examining both plugs the problem is quite evident, as the plugs differ in slight but discernible ways.

Massdrop has definitely come a long way from the small communities just looking to get some nice things together and that's to be expected I suppose, I'm used to waiting from previous drops and it's always a nice surprise to get in the mail. ValiantEnterpriseI feel you my dude, headphones are my weakness, I just ordered mine yesterday and I know it'll already be a while until I get it. They're usually very good about orders and you can see the staff are pretty active about replying to folks with concerns, the actual "storefront" where they keep active stock and sell things is a very recent addition along with the re-branding from Massdrop -> Drop. Before it was straight group purchases and sometimes it would take multiple weeks of no news on your end from the manufacturer -> shipping. A lot of the time I'd come back home and find the package had been delivered to my surprise. I ordered these pretty impulsively after the left can on my Massdrop x HiFiMan HE4XXs came off from me improperly ripping it off my head too many times. It's clamped with E6000 to dry as we speak lmao. Hopefully they'll hold over until these come in.

KevinI understand the devastation caused by the pandemic. Hey, I’m 70 years old, live in viral infested Seattle, Washington, and my generation is the most damaged by this insidious virus. What I don’t comprehend about shipping delays during the pandemic, is why other companies located in New Jersey, Europe and Asia etc. have no problem communicating well and getting things shipped out in a reasonable amount of time. I have purchased cases of wine, rugs, masks, furniture etc. in March and April of this year, from small, upstart companies, and they were able to email me personally and deal professionally about my purchase. What makes Massdrop/Drop different? I truly don’t understand why an email, explaining when an item I paid for will be shipped, is exponentially difficult for this company? Perhaps I’m missing something about communication difficulties. Most of you would already have me in a nursing home, infirmed, playing bingo in my jammies, but even I am able to communicate with anyone and everyone easily. Why can’t Massdrop/Drop?

Because I'm not in the Contiguous 48 I'm not eligible to upgrade FedEx shipping. It ships via SmartPost so I could get mine in 3-5 days, it could be 3-5 weeks if it sits in a cargo container waiting to fill up before getting sent across the Pacific lol. Mine just got packed up and ready to go, I think it's awaiting handoff to FedEx right now, so I'm excited for sure. This will be my 5th Headphone purchase, it's a dangerous addiction lmao.

ValiantEnterpriseThe Massdrop x Koss ESP/95X for $400 is a really good price to get into Electrostatic, I'm just sayin' lol. Definitely not for if you're a basshead though. But you'll never hear clearer more detailed audio. Something to consider though, price of entry for Electrostatic is usually in the $2000+ range.

KevinHey Kevin, My package has been delayed for a month. Originally lost by FedEx but after two weeks of no movement it is being shipped back to Drop. Replacement package was "shipped" April 16 today is April 24 and the package is still in preshipment according to USPS. Talked to wonderful people especially Jenny of your customer support team. This whole situation is getting out of hand. I can see that people who have already ordered after me already received their package. Getting tried of waiting and the unexplained issues with the shipping. I ordered an amp for the headphones and the return period is alrdy expired. Just please sort this out for me. I am constantly being told my customer support to wait before the logistic team and determine if the package is lost. It's been a month. Since the first package and it's been over a week for the second package.

bchau012Sorry, I can't handle support-related issues. All I can say is, please don't blame us or the CS staff for courier related problems [I know you're not doing that in your message]. We're doing our best, but when Fedex, or USPS or DHL or UPS decides not to deliver your package to your house, it isn't because we've screwed up. We'll do our best to fix the problem, but we do have to follow procedures and those sometimes take time to sort out... I know It absolutely sucks. Rest assured you'll eventually get your headphones, we'll make sure of it.

My main headphones died so I'm very excited for mine! EDIT & Update: Shipped this morning the 28th, due to get to me tomorrow. Anyone curious yes this makes it 6 days but i did order my headphones later in the day so it entirely makes sense to count it as 5 same as ordering from any shipping website.

FrankyvfYea Im in the same boat. I clearly saw the message about 2 hour return window, but saw nothing about covid shipping delays. I convinced myself buying new with expedited shipping was better than buying used via priority mail. Bad luck.

JKelloggsI purchased mine on the 5th, late at night to be precise. I checked FedEx's Tracker everyday and til was surprised to see it jumped from arriving Saturday to arriving Friday (today!). Not only did it advance a day ahead of schedule, it also arrived this morning, instead of later in the day like FedEx showed me. Very pleased with Drop and Senn right now

WarlocTaking money for the product itself is fine. Taking money for expedited shipping when things are pseudo-backordered and then not honoring expedited shipping. That's at the least disingenuous. I paid for the express shipping much like other commenters here and I still have no idea why I'm still paying that $5. I ordered on the 8th of May.

brandonGuyExpedited shipping isn't expedited processing (especially when inventory is out of their control in this instance). Your product will get to you faster once it ships. This is a very common thing for places if they don't have the stock on hand. I get that it is frustrating to wait but it is all laid out very clearly before, during, and after checkout. No reason not to be aware.

If "Shipping & Handling" doesn't include "processing" then that is news to me. I don't think it's laid out all that clearly. And specifically says to check the discussions for updates which during a time like this you should do at every retailer anyway. You would have then seen this notice which they have been doing a fantastic job of updating. Drop has always done an amazing job and just don't like seeing them catch flack for people's failure to read notices is all.

WarlocThis is my first purchase through Drop. My feedback is valid. Not "flack". I really like what I see here and how they seem to run, aside from this one minor negative. I do appreciate how communicative Kevin has been as well. Coming from somebody who builds applications and designs user experiences on a daily basis I am simply trying to provide critical feedback. I will most likely purchase from Drop again since the positives seem to outweight the negatives. But no product, service, or website is perfect. Drop's pre-purchase communication regarding this delay is lacking. Telling new customers to go look at a discussion thread is not a great user experience. Accept this is honest critical feedback or don't (@Drop). Again, thus far overall positive experience.

brandonGuyI grabbed the Schiit Magni and Modi 3+ Amp and DAC. This is going to be my first experience with a decent open back pair of headphones myself. I have had a few really good pairs of Sennheisers and have heard nothing but good things so I finally pulled the trigger. I only plan to use them in my office at home so I won't use them off the Amp very much but I should probably try it. From reviews it seems you just won't be able to get the full volume/detail but connected to a modern phone should still be better than basic headphones I think.

If it is out of stock and you can't ship it I would like to know about that UPFRONT. I specifically clicked IN STOCK filter before ordering. Money was paid and no one can tell me when I'll get my product. Had to buy temp headphones from another retailer just as a placeholder for work. Found the refund policy after digging it out in support menu. I'll wait until Thursday for updates and if nothing changes I'm out.

Going forward we might all have to cultivate more patience as supply lines get stretched thin and the work forces shrink in an attempt to avoid contracting the virus. I agree with some postings about the advantage of having more info on the web site about delay status, but I’d guess that web site development is another one of those tasks that is being affected by current events. oocherkasInIt sounds like the pandemic has been particularly strenuous for Drop, and many other companies (including ones that they rely on) are in the same boat. Anyways, you can easily cancel your order, and get back the money they "took" from you. Also, what's trash about the return policy? 30 day returns with the item in like new condition, all accessories, etc. Pretty standard fare for a return policy....

99% of our HD6XX orders for the last 18 months have shipped out on the "next business day". Things started to go awry in the middle of April, for obvious reasons. We've tried to scrub our site of most references of "next business day shipping" but obviously some persist. Also- in 95% of cases for in-stock products on our site, they are (as of today) shipping on the next business day. We're doing our best here, like everyone else is. If you're not happy, please ask for a refund and we'll gladly give it to you. This answer is for everyone who feels that we're misleading, cheating, stealing, being elusive, or acting otherwise shady.

RickB68Honestly, FedEx probably won't be realistically moving these items until after the holiday (assuming they are using FedEx ground). If Drop is in fact bringing people in over the weekend to get caught up I don't think you have to worry. I imagine anyone who ordered before the 20th will probably get a shipping notification sometime over this weekend but FedEx might not really get anything into their system until maybe Tuesday.

KevinOrders are in the system. Inventory on the warehouse floor. Computer prints pick tickets according to date and time order was placed. (Only way computers know how to do it) Packing slip prints. Box is closed up and goes to shipping department. Computer prints shipping label. Freight is set aside for USPS, FedEx, DHL and other carriers Drop uses. With the size of your shipments carriers pick up at least twice a day. Waiting until sometime next week. (Hopefully)

sarlinBased off everything they have said so far people who have ordered prior to the 20th will have their order shipped from the current batch. The batch arrived Friday morning and they processed 1,000/1,300 of the orders. I was one of the 1000 and they had mentioned the possibility of processing the last 300 over the weekend (I doubt anyone is going to volunteer to work Memorial day weekend during a pandemic, just being real here). For my order shipping indicates the label has been created and shipment is waiting for Fedex to come pick up. Since it's a major holiday weekend couriers will resume business hours next Tuesday. So my guess is yours will be processed Tuesday if it hasn't already then shipped late Tuesday to Wednesday. Typical shipping times from the NE to the NW are roughly 3-5 business days depending on the method you requested and not considering any delays Fedex may be having internally. So you should most likely get the headphones around June 2 with ground shipping. You of course will know more once they ship. I live in the NE and I don't expect to get anything sooner than the 29th. It's kind of a perfect storm of things going on at the moment as far as delays go. But something along what I suggested would be a realistic expectation. Disclaimer: I don't work for Drop or am affiliated with them in any way. I'm just an eager customer who orders a lot of things online and worked for UPS.

KevinOrdered the HD6xx on May 8th with a scheduled shipping date of May 18th, got a message that they shipped on May 22nd. For five days my shipping status read as “En Route” which made me believe it was being shipped to Denmark where I live, but apparently it didn’t actually get shipped out until today, the 27th, because the DHL site finally updated with a new status as being at a distribution center in Avenel, NJ... It took five days for my package to go nowhere after you told me it shipped, why do you even send out an email with them having been shipped if it’s not the case? The communication from Drop has honestly been super disappointing and it’s really annoying that customers has to manually look for this information rather than getting an email notice about delays or shipping mishaps, but instead you will gladly send out marketing emails every day rather than having a good customer experience. At this rate it will probably be like a month from ordering until I receive my product, which would be fine it you guys communicated this better and not expect people to spend time looking for updates on their orders. This is probably the first and last time I will buy anything from Drop, I expected better with how big the site has gotten over the years.
