$200!? Take my money now! Always missed my 650's that I sold. They were jaw dropping when first paired with my tube amp. Too bad they're already scheduled to be sold. Thanks to massdrop I'll have these babies again!
Btw do these have a matte finish unlike the high gloss of the originals? If so, it will be even better~ it is a bummer that it doesnt terminate in 1/4. I would suspect these will be used with desktop amps than used as part of a portable rig.
650s on a tube amp sound amazing. I don't know how you could ever part with them.
i could not power well them with my iBasso DX50 or my dedicated amp/phone setup. i am not sure how these can be used with a portable device, so the 3.5mm plug confuses me...
This so much. The 3.5 was probably just to cut down on costs somewhere. The 1/4 was much more robust and wouldn't break in a device if something had to give. Adapters were a thing, but the flexible adapter Sennheiser included with the 650s was a Godsend. It reduced weight on whatever it plugged into and gave way if yanked.
It does look like it's oriented for portable use, but that's ridiculous. It's open and 300 ohms. Even with a portable amp, it still doesn't work unless all you want to hear is the traffic outside. I wont even take open headphones outside because of the possibility of getting dirt or debris into the drivers.
I have plenty laying around. I'm just saying it makes more sense with the 1/4 plug.
I know. But they were up for sale before I got my tube amp. Got to hear the pair in the mean time, and boy did I regret putting it up for sale.
I was the same way. I bought a pair from Amazon, didn't amp them properly. I was using a Schiit stack and was like, this is so sterile and emotionless. Returned them. After, I got a Darkvoice from here and ended up buying another pair. Such an improvement.
Well, I went from the Vali 2 and Asgard 2 to the Valhalla 2 (bugle boys). So, I'm technically still using a Schiit stack (Bimby/Valhalla2) :P
