As a canadian buyer who just bought dt880, these are an AMAZING DEAL. In canada, buying hd650's cause cost just under $700 which is absurd. I really want these as they will be around $300 plus shipping in cad. I think i'm going to return my dt880's, do you guys agree?

HD650 and DT880 are very different headphones. HD650s are dark and DT880s are bright. DT880s are more comfortable to wear. DT880s do not have a replaceable cable, but HD650s do. Going balanced with HD650s is as easy as replacing the cable. I find the DT880s to be too bright, so I'd take the HD650s any day over them, but some people like bright headphones.

Hey Eddd, what about the DT990 Pro edition vs the HD6XX? A similar scenario? Are they dissimilar enough to warrant buying my second pair of headphones? Thanks!!

I actually haven't heard the DT990's myself; though, reviews of them indicate that they are also on the bright side. Build-wise, they seem quite similar to the DT880 in that they have a single cable that enters the headphone that is not replaceable, and I imagine that they have the similar level of comfort. I actually don't care for my DT880's all that much. They don't have enough bass for my liking. I'd suggest you try to listen to some Beyerdynamics before purchasing if you can. On the other hand, purchasing the HD6XX for $199 without having listened to them is a pretty safe bet.
