All...what would be a recommended, reasonably priced portable/desktop player? I work from home and have a company laptop, so I need a separate device that plays lossless and can drive these.

this isn't necessarily portable as it requires plugging into the wall, but highly highly recommended

Just to clarify. I cannot load files onto my work laptop, so I need a player in addition to dac/amp.

Maybe the Fio x3? I haven't heard this one personally, but other Fio products I have used in the past have been fairly good.
Also if your phone supports audio over USB OTG, you can use DAC/amps like the e10k.

What about the Dragonfly Red? Enough to drive from my iPhone with wav/ALAC?

You could certainly go that route.
I love the CEntrance DACPort Slim that drops here on Massdrop often driven from my phone. I can't ever find enough specs on the Dragonfly units to be comfortable buying one, but I'd guess the DACPort Slim is better overall than the Dragonfly based on the few specs I can find.
I run it with a Y cable for split power supply so it doesn't kill my battery. Honestly it's the setup I spend most of my time with.
