How are these headphones with EDM? I don't have an eq or amp, I'm planning on using them at the office while I work.

syntraxYou'll want/need an amp to get the best out of these headphones. They are also open back so using them at the office isn't a very good idea as you will both bleed sound out to your colleagues and let all the office sound in. Your best bet will be noise cancelling headphones for the office, or simply closed back.
As for EDM, entirely depends on what you like. If you're a basshead these probably wont suit you as they provide a neutral sound overall with some slight warmness. Again, you'll need an amp for them to sound their best as they have a 300 ohm impedance.

EamouDo you have a recommendation on headphones for EDM?
And yes, I'm a basshead. I've heard that beats headphones come with the bass cranked up, but I've heard that they're not really worth their money.
I don't know much about headphones, thanks for your reply tho!
I work in IT in a corner office close to the servers, no one will mind :p
EamouDo open back headphones bleed out that much. Like will it be a slight murmur if I'm playing music loud or can they hear stuff word for word? What are the advantages of open back headphones then?

BlackFireStorm12Yes it bleed out that much and people will hear almost like from a small speaker. The advantage is the sound more natural and spacious.

BlackFireStorm12open back headphones have a much wider soundstage and usually better sound quality compared to closed back versions and they bleed out quite a lot even at lower volumes so public use really isnt the best option

BlackFireStorm12Yes, people will be able to hear everything you're listening to. The advantage is that the music spreads out and you feel like you're sitting in the studio with the musicians playing around you. There are lots of YouTube videos explaining the difference, mkbhd did a good one.

syntraxBeats are never the best option imo. You will always find better value for money elsewhere. As the guy below me said, the thx00 md x fostex is a good pair for bass. I would also recommend the Philips Fidelio X2 as they are very bassy.
If you want to learn more about headphones there are many YouTube videos and websites out there that offer lots of good resources. Headphones are very complex pieces of kit and there is a lot to them, I think you'll be amazed at how much stuff goes into them and how much of that you have to consider when choosing which pair to buy. And that's not even talking about DACs or amps!
Feel free to ask some more questions but I would urge you to start researching on your own as you will both enjoy that more and get answers quicker.

BlackFireStorm12Only if you don't want anyone around you to hear your conversation. There is no sound isolation. These also won't have a mic with them, so depending on your Skype rig, you might not be heard. I'm guessing there's an aftermarket cable with a mic you could buy although I haven't searched one out.
Shouldn't be hard to make one either.

syntraxIn general closed headphones have much better bass response at the expense of much higher harmonic distortion and reduced sound stage. By comparison they sound like there is a tiny band playing inside your noggin. Open cans add a sense of space and air to the music making it feel more alive. They also have less distortion effects.
A word of advice though: Don't think of cranked up bass as a positive. It will always result in something else getting muddled up and it usually means you'll just have the low fundamentals without any of the higher harmonics to give it detail. Don't sacrifice bass quality for bass quantity. The HD6xx will perform worse on the low end than some other open back cans even, but the bass that is there will be VERY textured and detailed. The reduced low end response will be hardly noticeable on any real instruments being played, but your electronically generated lows in EDM will not be reproduced. These are really geared more for classical, rock, and jazz.
My honest recommendation for someone looking for a good all arounder basshead can: AKG K267 Tiesto. Yes, an EDM DJ had a hand in their tuning/design, but they really are very neutral throughout the full audio range and the bass is exceptionally well extended, but not bloated. As a basshead they are my favorite headphones by far, and in my opinion the most underrated headphone on the planet. They were discontinued fairly recently but you can still find them new for somewhere shy of $200 if you look.

syntraxI have heard that the Ultrasone Pro 900's are bass monsters, perfect for EDM. The Philips Fidelio X2 is supposed to be good, as is the TH-X00
