"just be happy you got in" <-- whatever
imo its almost embarrassing to have put a timer on this drop, and then click refresh for half an hour or more just to look at white pages and errors together with thousands others.. until it finally worked.
If id have knows this.. id have just bought them off amazon for $100 more. the headphones would have arrived a long time ago as well.
they prepared as best they could, apparently the demand far exceeded their expectations. i think they have been fair with their reaction on several fronts. im sure u have several headphones to warm your noggin i expect this drop to happen soon over and over and over again.
I guess massdrop is not for you then, read up a bit next time before diving into these kind of websites/companies

Very true, I tried multiple times starting at the start time and got many failure message, but finally got in.
I do wish they had left instructions and said do not refresh, at least I didn't see any.
mnemo thats nonsense. the problem was with massdrop.com with all the errors and whitepages. the main purpose of this website is having many people place orders when the drop becomes active... right...
they could see the number of requests as well... and they marketed this drop all over the web and youtube.
i dont see how they prepared well. you can even simulate these kind of things, stress tests, etc.
Hah, imagine how much you would've complained if you hadn't gotten to join the drop. These are going ~$320 on Amazon - is competing with 7000 other people on an overloaded site and waiting a month and a half for what many consider endgame really not worth a 35% discount? If so, thousands of others disagree and wouldn't mind taking your place. The headphones are almost shipped. Quit complaining.
Nope. The purpose of this website/company is to facilitate group buys for a community of enthusiasts. That's it.
This drop was a bit of a surprise. A typical drop of 5000 units of a popular item will sell out within a few days, not a few minutes. The hype they spread beforehand is what killed this drop. They claim they did prepare, but obviously not enough. I agree, that this is a severe miscalculation on their part. I also say, though, that they have done everything they could to make the situation right for as many people as possible.
Unfortunately they have to balance keeping the community happy (including the masses that jumped on the hype train to the site) with keeping the suppliers happy as well. If they want a second drop to help alleviate the anger in the community, it might come at the expense of angering a few of the Veruca Salt wannabes who came in on the hype train, rather than trying to demand that Sennheiser build more units.
If you were unhappy having to refresh, why didn't you just order a pair on Amazon right then?
I agree the site not working was annoying and caused some people who prepared to be left out. However, I'm more than happy to wait a little while for shipment and save $100+.
thats what im saying. id have paid the extra $100 for the original version if i knew the trouble with this drop.

well i didnt know this before hand did i? and it not $100+. its actually $100. it comes $315 incl. shipping from amazon.
also the hd600 which people say is the same or equal quality sound is even cheaper..
so yea whatever. i already did all this stuff.. but im saying if i could go back in time id have just ordered off amazon 100%
The estimated shipping was provided ahead of time as were all the details on what the product was. The only thing you couldn't have known about was the issues with the site. Once you saw those issues or anytime until now you could have decided it wasn't worth the $100.
The cheapest these have been at Amazon since the drop is $314, and most people have to pay taxes at Amazon as well, so it's more than $100 for many.

well. thats what im saying. its almost kind of embarrassing. makes me feel like those fanboys of apple who will sleep in front of the store to be the first. its really embarrassing
What I didn't see was in the payment/drop. Should you stay even if it took half an hour to process?
I agree with complaints about the site situation and people being upset about that. However, it seems a little silly to complain at this point or say the shipping delay wasn't worth the savings.
For most products, I don't think the savings aren't a big enough to warrant waiting weeks for shipment and losing out on a better return policy. In this case it's almost a 33% savings (or $100 in absolute terms), and I don't need the headphones right away. I'm glad to trade off a few minutes of my time and some agitation for that savings.
I woke up 2 hours early, and spent those 2 hours trying to join, and then brought my laptop onto the bus and spent the entirety of the ride trying to join on both my phone and laptop. It was worth it to get in. I think that one morning of trouble is worth saving more than $100 on a pair of headphones that I've wanted for a long time. I'm not embarrassed at all.

We all wish they had been better prepared but hopefully they learned something, since they have never had a drop like this before, and will be better prepared for the next time.

Massdrop is not for you and never will be for you for this reason alone.
As for the unoriginal edition, this IS the edition everyone wants.
Just to save $100 dollars - If you did not already want these, which I assume you did not until you saw the hype on Massdrop, then you would not understand that 100 dollars off put these into the "how can I not buy them" category for the many, many, many, people who have always wanted a pair of these headphones.
Frankly the only thing that's embarrassing is hanging around a drop thread to complain weeks after the fact.
I stopped reading after you mentioned what mass drop's main purpose is for I know what will follow is all whine from someone who do not know what they gotten themselves into..
With 33k others who requested for this, you can always cancel your order if you are not happy. As you mentioned, you could have placed an order somewhere else and gotten it sooner..
Why are you still here again? oh right, to whine and complain :)
whatever i understand youre happy with the headphones, but the drop itself was a disaster. and thats a fact.
