Had mine a couple days and can say I'm definitely pleased for $200. Sure, the cable is a little short but I enjoy shopping around for cables. I'm going to start with this cheap 3m replacement ($22 amazon prime): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X326OY8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AJ2PJNO98VCDO
I'm admittedly an EQ maniac but haven't felt a strong need to use EQ yet. I'll probably drop the highest frequencies a tad and might boost the low end, but that's just for personal preference, nothing wrong with the vanilla sound coming out of these. Paired with a XDuoo TA-02 (cheap tube amp), which has no issue driving them at and beyond comfort level. Detail is excellent as can be expected. Crisp but smooth presentation, etc.
Build: small signs of stress on the plastic connecting the cups to the headband (around where the 'L' and 'R' indicators are). Only noticeable when light is reflecting off of it. My guess is whatever tool they used to clamp the headband to the cups was pressed a bit too hard. No biggie, but something that might piss off a collector if it's a common issue. I hope we continue to move away from plastic on higher-end headphones, but these don't cost enough to warrant it.
For once, I don't immediately need to buy replacement pads. They're a tad stiff but already forming to my head. Not usually a fan of velour (or whatever these are) but they're not as scratchy as others I've had.
So yeah, perfect 8/10 :). If they can keep their purchase processing servers from exploding next time around I think it'll be a great buy for those that got screwed when this drop launched like a glitchy beached whale.
