Probably the best headphones you can buy at $200
if you are looking for an enjoyable headphone. One that is pleasant and pleasing to listen to after a long day at work, just get a pair of these. I have had mine since the end of 2016. I was able to jump into the original drop of the HD6xx. I have bought several other headphones throughout this time and I always ended up with these. the 6xx lacks quantity in bass, but it does not lack quality. it has enough for genres like Jazz, not enough for other genres though. I am currently powering my 6xx through the Massdrop Liquid Carbon and it just such a beautiful pairing. There is zero fatigue. the liquid carbon adds a bit of umph on the bass too. these are great headphones for vocals. Male & female After almost 3 years of buying and selling headphones, these are still sitting on my desk, because I have not found a better value than these anywhere

A Top-Notch Experience From Beginning To End!
From the painless ordering process to making sure that the product arrived on time professionally packaged, along with an invoice to the actual product itself - the HD 6XX - Wow! I have been listening to music for over 40 years and have never heard my music like this before. Little nuances that were never heard before come out here. Not like hearing it for the first time, but like hearing a different mix of the same song. Very impressive Drop, please give yourselves a big hand for making these beautiful headphones even more available for all to enjoy!

What are "open back headphones"?
Open backs project sound both towards your ears and out the sides of the earpieces. This makes the sound feel as if they are coming from further away. Good for replicating the directions of where each vocals and instruments are coming from; like at a concert. Close backs sound as if the music is coming from the centre of your head; you get less "directional" experience but they feel more intimate. Open backs leak sound so if you are riding on public transport, the people sitting next to you might look at you sideways wonder why you are playing music for everyone around you. Most high end headphones are open back so don't worry about losing any sound quality from the leakage!
What is the best amp (or amp/dac) to pair with the HD6XX?

The price of 6XX fluctuates. I wanna buy these for under 200 as many have done. How can I be aware of any price drop?

Aside from the music, I really like the 6XX's fit because it seems more solid and comfortable than my old M50x. Even on my phone at half level, which is comfortably loud, it works just great while driving, contrary to my expectations. (mod edit: removed affiliate links)

OuskambouI ordered on the 20th of December and I had to ask support for an update. Now they say February. Did they oversell products? Kind of seems like it.

$279 too expensive
Original massdrop was 199.99 I got in on the original drop. Not sure why the price increased. Personally I would spend the money on hd600 or hd 560s
So what you are saying is that Drop's price increases on a nearly 7 year old product have outstripped even what actual inflation calculations would justify? Also, I never compared you to Amazon, I said that your shipping was terrible, and it is in a very objective way. Your estimates are horrifically unreliable, and your shipping options are awful. I'm not going to go over the idiocy of using "just in time" logistics, but for a retail company that is absolutely idiotic. I'm not going to spend all night dissecting your comments, but in the end, they all read like "it's not our fault and we aren't taking any responsibility for our failures". I have shopped with Drop for a long time and have watched the precipitous decline. Where finding a great deal with Drop used to be the norm it has now become an abnormality and is the reason I have almost 0 interest in shopping with Drop anymore and actively steer people away if I can. Your products are no longer the good deals they once were and therefore the terrible practices of Drop I can no longer justify and wouldn't suggest anyone I know try to deal with them either.
SpydieHolesForDaysI read your points, and considered them in what info to share with you. I also pointed out that Drop is aligned with you on your desires for fast smooth shipping, market-beating price, and I was just hired to increase communication engagement. All of those things are good for you & Drop, both. The current shipping situation is widely damaging to Drop’s ability to do business; they’re trying their best to work around it and keep things moving.

purchased these at $200 during a deal. Very good sonic clarity for the price as a reference headphone. The earpads they arrived with were my only complaint about them. However, once I replaced those, I had no further issues with them. (mod edit: removed affiliate links)

Is it possible to have them repaired through Sennheiser? My left speaker buzzes with low frequencies.

AntherI had a similar issue on a different pair of headphones and after doing some google searching someone brought up the dumbest fix I had ever heard of that happened to work for me so just in case I will share it here. Make sure some random piece of hair hasn't somehow gotten in past the ear pads and is buzzing against the speaker. I went from being very upset to laughing at myself in like 10 seconds. Hope that's all it is!
AntherUsually, this is just caused by a hair. Pull off the ear pad, take off the thin foam hair and dust filter that rests between the pads and driver housing, and make sure there isn’t any hair resting on the driver or poking through the foam filter.

What was the shipping lead time like for those who purchased recently?

MP7_ACOGI ordered them on Oct 30 and they arrived to my home near Minneapolis, MN on Nov 6. However, I didn't realize that they have crackling in the low end around 72Hz on the left side. Make sure that when you get them, you pull a song into a DAW, lowpass it at 100Hz, turn the headphones up, and see if you're getting crackling on either side.

These headphones are my first actual foray into Hi-Fi audio, and I was pleasantly surprised by how good they were. The decision to upgrade from my AKG K240 studios was the right one. They came highly recommended, and I'm quite happy with them. (mod edit: removed affiliate links)

Just getting back into the audiophile world (after having sold all of my equipment about a dozen years ago...). Excited to have picked up a pair of these at $179! I'm looking for the right entry-level DAC/Amp combo; don't have a lot more to spend right now, and am not entirely sure where I'm going to be doing most of my listening in the longer term -- right now, it's going to be mostly off of my PC, but I do have hopes to replace my turntable in the next year or two... Thinking about the Fiio K5 Pro, which is $149 on Amazon right now. Will this do right by me? I know I eventually will probably want a stack, but for now, a DAC/Amp combo seems the right path for me. Is there something else in that price range I should be considering? Thanks for your insight!
