For $550 what are you getting? A solid monitor, that does everything well. I wouldn't say it's the best at any particular thing though. For gaming you're getting a monitor that runs at 3440x1440 @ 100htz 2milliseconds response time. Depending on the game, I'll drop this down to 1080 and overclock the refresh rate between 120-244htz. You lose the ultra wide aspect, but gain buttery smooth frames. Or I might keep stock settings, it really all depends on the game. My point is, this monitor gives you options, so that's nice. I also use this monitor for work, where I perform a number of tasks from Excel, Word, Adobe, 3D design, 3D printing, and general multi tasking with a billion tabs open on my web browser. With the 100% adobe color range represented, this monitor is amazing for content creation. The 21:9 screen makes Excel work a dream. Being able to put this into Portrait Mode makes document viewing a sight to behold. However I feel for general document viewing this monitor is over kill. You can find 21:9 aspect ratio monitors for half the price, but you loose the gaming specs and drop down to 1080 at those prices points and it probably won't support the full adobe color range. The down side to this monitor is the construction. Hearing Jay's Two Cents review sorta ticked me off saying "It's All Metal!" This monitor is not all metal construction. It's plastic, with texture and coloring that make it seem like brushed aluminum. VESA mounting isn't as simple either, and will expose much of the cost saving measures used when constructing this monitor. It also runs really warm for a monitor. But I sorta expected that given the price point. Over all it's a winner in my book, even with the plastic construction and how hot it runs. The price is MORE than fair, especially when factoring how well this monitor performs in work & play. Other notes, my monitor didn't come with stuck pixels or light bleed. Shipping packaging was great, well protected & sensible packing solutions. It also doesn't come with a VGA cable, but a Display Port!!! A major plus in my opinion (who's going to run a VGA on this monitor?!) I don't know, over all I'm looking at buying more of these monitors. I've recommended them to all my friends as well. The only question I have left is how long will this monitor last me? Only time will tell, but for now I am happy with my purchase.

hackysackmonsterHow does dropping the resolution magically make it able to achieve 240hz?

MGarandYou're reducing the amount of information being processed when you reduce the resolution. This can open up performance in other aria's of your monitor. By dropping the resolution down to 1920x1080, you've reduced your information load in half (roughly). Since this monitor can run at 3440x1440@100hz I guessed it had the bandwidth for 1080p@144hz and it worked. I then tested it to 240hz and it worked. I haven't gone past that, mainly because my system is a potato. I mainly keep this at 3440x1440@100hz, but depending on the game I'll use 1080@144hz for some modern games(World War Z), and 1080@240hz for older games (CSGO). It should go without saying though, don't go to crazy with the refresh rates on your monitor. You can break your monitor doing this. So if your monitor explodes because you decided 8k@1.4Ghz refresh rate was a good idea that's all you. In short, my monitor didn't die (yet) with me messing with the refresh rates. You're mileage may vary. Oh and not every monitor is capable of overclocking. Now that I got the lawyer talk outta the way, hope this helped. Happy clocking. (or not... totally up to you).

hulkyYou're going to want the custom resolution utility. Be warned, it can COMPLETELY mess things up. If you don;t know what you are doing, DO NOT do it. https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU

hackysackmonsterGot a 240hz monitor and "oced" my Massdrop Vast to 255hz ... its not physical 255hz i DEFINITELY feel and see the difference between them both, the massdrop vast can go max 125hz as it also shows in aida64 display specifications. You can believe my word i have alot of experience with monitor refresh rates since im a competitive player across many fps games.
