Hi all, owner of a first-production MD Vast. There's an issue with FreeSync where it flickers while playing games or displaying any complex 3D rendering. The issue looks like graphical artifacting, but the graphics card surely isn't the culprit because with FreeSync off, it operates just fine without any flickering and the test completed / passed just fine: https://i.imgur.com/vY8m3Va.jpg It's been over a year since I received this monitor and I'd love if you guys at MassDrop figure out some sort of firmware update or other solution to fix the issue without having customers resort to third party programs such as CRU to band-aid fix the problem. I just ran a TimeSpy stress test with my Vega 56 and you can clearly see the flickering: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AX8raP4C_vos0guE8CUmEuqTglR22e2I/view Other than this glaring flaw, the monitor has been fantastic to own!

Shrake907Seems like the flickering is luck of the draw. My first Vast had no issues but developed an issue with controller that required it to be replaced. My second one was not so lucky and does the flickering when FreeSync is enabled.

Shrake907I’ve read that if you have a second monitor running that is not FreeSync compatible, it will cause flickering. Disabling FreeSync or unplugging the second monitor seems to be the only working solution in this case.

Shrake907Same issue on my end, I also have had the monitor since the first batch and have had the issue on 3 different Vast monitors, as I received a replacement for the first one due to dead pixels, and then the second due to this exact issue. Nonetheless the replacement model still has the issue even though it was replaced nearly before the one year warranty expired. So I am quite sure this is still an issue. I have also tried many adjustments to the variable refresh to see if I could find a range where it would work and the only range that worked without issue was 40-60hz. However, that basically defeats the purpose of having a 100hz monitor. I have also tried it on both a vega 56 and an rx470 and both experience the issue. The only other culprit I can think of is the fact I am running a Sandybridge cpu using pcie 2.0 bandwidth instead of the newer pcie 3.0. However, I find it unlikely that is the issue, so it leads me back to it being the monitor's fault. Other than that, the monitor is fantastic (if you get a good panel, otherwise contact support) and it is capable of being overclocked between 114-117hz depending on panel variance from what I've experienced. So if massdrop could just fix freesync I feel this would be the best monitor in its price range (though if you are willing to pay $200 more there are ips options to consider).

themastermonkSo after about 2 years of having this monitor I have found that the magic lays in setting up a custom resolution in the Nvidia control panel and finding what your monitor's max refresh rate is. While MassDrop says that the max refresh rate is 100hz that has not been the case on my monitor with FreeSync enabled. The max I was able to get my Vast to was 90hz so better than 60 but not what they claim.
