Plautus001I could see a balanced version being launched in the MCTH height chassis, but it won't just be $100 more than this. The resistor ladder hardware would double and the faux-FPGA would have to double or just use an FPGA at additional cost. For example look at Audio-GDs R2R-11 which includes a small amp for $350 vs the Balanced R2R 1 DAC at $800.
mtmercerIf you see the internal pic above the module only takes up half the space. I actually think they did that on purpose for a future balanced DAC with two modules. Probably want to see how well this one does before committing to a fully balanced design. Which, as you said, will be at least 2x the price.
cspirouI think this will do well. I went and read the HF impressions from the demo units and they were all very positive. I think I will get one of these and pair it with HeadAmp Gilmore Lite Mk 2. Maybe throw In a Saga preamp for the audiophile trifecta: R2R ladder dac, tube preamp, class A amp.
