I don't see a mention of MQA. Seems like it's a standard that keeps gaining a foothold.
MQA is lossy. You're considering a serious DAC and asking about lossy source material? It's also severely encumbered by licensing to an external organization (though not Meridian any more), and has DRM built right in.
That's really the end of the discussion from my standpoint. I refuse to accept any of these things in my audio experience, and recommend you do not either. MQA is not a feature, it's a bug.
During the day at my desk I stream MQA from Tidal through a Chord Mojo which outputs to a Marantz 1150 playing to Music Hall Marimba's on average 2-3 hours a day. Another 2-3 hours a day the source switches to a Pro-Ject Classic SB and vinyl. I can clearly tell the difference between the two, the vinyl is richer, but both sources still sound awesome. The ability to decode could be there for those of who want it. We could perhaps enable it with a software key after a subsequent payment.
It's a hobby. I am currently looking for a Mac 1900, Mac C33, and a Mac 2205 for my next gen system. I am also going to hot rod a Dual 1229. It keeps me busy. Idle hands are not a good idea for me. ;-)
