I received mine yesterday. It doesn't work. It was going to replace my Schiit Modi 3, but then the Airist I got was defective. It only made humming and clicks and pops. I sent Massdrop this email.

Dear Drop,
Today I received my Massdrop X airist audio R-2R DAC. It does not work. I only use the optical input on the R2RD in my system and it does not work. All I get is clicks and pops thru my AV system. I was going to do a comparison between my Schiit Modi 3 DAC and this unit failed from the start. How do I return this one, and how do I get a working one? I don't believe I should have to pay for return shipping.

So what Massdrop sent me was a bunch of links regarding watch warranties. No information on how to exchange it for a good, working one. On the box there is a "stock B" marking as if they purposely sent me a broken one. Now they are "out of stock". Did I just get screwed over

Massdrop has not sent me any email telling me how to proceed.

bsatowMy unit worked fine right out of the gate, no troubles with drivers on Window 10 too. Though with other merchandise I found Drop's return policy excellent. They paid return postage. I noticed that this DAC has had a fair amount of returns, could be the troubles with manufacturing an R-2R DAC.

Tex1954I haven't heard back from Drop yet. I hope they are honorable people. I wanted to compare this DAC with the Schiit Modi 3 and right out of the box, the optical spdif input didn't work. Terrible. All inputs - Coax, Optical, USB should work perfectly. What I didn't like was that the box looked previously opened. How can I tell? The locking tab was not inserted in the DAC box, which I thought strange at first. Then some marking "stock B" which I did not appreciate either.

bsatowI have been very satisfied with their returns and attitude. Most email correspondence was replied to within one day if not sooner. I'd be very surprised if you have troubles.

Tex1954I hope so. Right now I feel as if they are trying to get rid of old stock and just dumping on us. I've been with this company since Massdrop started and this is no way to treat an old customer.
