I didn't mind waiting so I just placed my first Massdrop order, then discovered these reviews and cancelled. I thought these were the same - even improved - version of the AKG K712, but now have doubts due to the reports of possible wiring issues and low construction quality expressed here. Not sure whether I want to be a Massdrop customer now. Confidence ebbing.

musichalThe build quality is slightly cheaper than the K712s, which these are a rebrand of. I haven't heard that the build quality difference when it comes the sound quality, however the sound signature is slightly tweaked. The quality difference comes with the plastics and physical construction. Regular AKG headphones are made in Austria, while these are made in China to get the price down.
