Hello if anyone can help me out that'd be amazing! I am currently torn between the K7XX and HD 598 SR. I will be pairing this with my GSX 1000 for gaming. Which of these (or other options) would work well with the GSX for surround sound and be very comfortable and not breakdown over time. I mostly play PUBG and Battlefield 1. Thank you

DevstonIf you want the HD 598 for gaming, the PC37X is a great option. Same drivers and has a pretty kickass mic.

DevstonThese K7xx headphones are famous for being great for gaming. The soundstage is top-of-the-line, it's what the headphones are known for.
A lot of people end up replacing their fancy gaming headphones for these after trying them.

HamrobesI keep hearing these K7xx headphones are great for gaming, but I'm stuck on what to plug them in to. I'm an Xbox gamer, so the options for DAC/Amp seems limited to the ASTRO Mixamp, which regularly gets poo-pooed by audiophiles as pretty crappy. Anyone know a DAC solution for Xbox?

Fusi0nCatalystPretty much any DAC above $30 or so sounds the same. Most of this is covered by integrated circuits and they've gotten really good and cheap over the years to the point where there's not much difference.

PointyI ended up getting a set of the K7XX headphones and a modmic. I have them plugged straight into the controler, and it actually works quite nice. What the astro mixamp does is turn the 5.1 surround sound into stereo surround. However, I'm not sure I actually want that- I need to hear some real world samples of that technology, the one example I have seen on youtube (from a different DAC) just made things sound like there was more reverb, and did not (IMO) give a better sound stage or directionality. So I may just stick with what I have, or add an inexpensive amp.
