So these things touch my ears a bit more than I like after a couple hours. I love the low weight and oversized velour ear pads, but wish they were a tad deeper.
Any other recommendations for a set of headphones that are open back, velour, and in this price range I should try? Comfort #1 at this point.

WSFrazierI would recommend sennheiser 6xx on massdrop for $199. They probably will be the lightest headphone you will try and comfort is pretty good from what I hear (I have tried 5 series and they are similar).
I will be receiving the 6xx plus the he-4xx in december. Surprised how similar 7xx are to fidelio x2, there is differences but small.

Z0d1AcIf you think that the X2s and the 7XX are similar in anyway, then you have never listened to them. I own both, and both are worth owning! The X2x are great to just put on and jam out to... warm, tons of bass, great extension. A little weak in the mids/highs. Old school design (i.e. heavy) but well made and quite comfortable for their size. The 7XX is a completely different headphone. It requires an amp to get the most of them. There is far less bass, but much better mid-range and treble is clear. Soundstage is amazing, and these are one of the lightest and most comfortable cans I've owned. These would be great for jazz, classical, or any music you fancy that doesn't require lots of low end thump to enjoy. Two amazing headphones for the money... can't go wrong with either. But they are VASTLY different in sound.

sheaSTLFrom memory they are achieving the same quality of sound. Don't have x2 anymore to test side by side but from memory they are similar.
Yes I agree they have their differences, like k7xx worse build quality, comfort very similar even tho x2 are heavier. K7xx being darker sounding with less bass but still have plenty of bass. But overall both have good punch, similar detail and separation and sound signature and both similar on how hard to drive.

WSFrazierMaybe switch the pads for dekoni pads? I got em, and my ears stopped touching the drivers
