This headphone is deceptively hard to drive. I purchased this headphone because Drop mentioned that it is easy to drive due to their low impedance. Sound coming from this can with fiio e17k was underwhelming. Bass was lacking, Mid sounded so cold and treble was sibilant. It can get loud but loudness does not mean that headphone is being properly amplified. I upgraded the amp with Fiio K5pro which was as equally powerful as Atom. Man, the difference was night and day. All of sudden the sound became warm and fuzzy with more revealing details as if the new amp was puting more bodies across all of frequencies. I was very puzzled that this headphone was harder to drive than HD6xx. I had to turn volume knob around 12 o'clcok on medium gain where 2 o'clock on low gain for HD 6xx. So the information Drop claims that K7xx is easy to drive is inaccurate.

dk4everYou can mod them if you search online to get better bass. What I have gripe with is that it seems like the k7xx lack a lot in detail for the big sound stage that they offer. Maybe it’s because of my smsl su8 and THX 789 setup.

DjangomeisterAmount of bass seems sufficient enough with my set set up. However retrieval or decay of bass frequency is not fast enough that bass is not as snappy i want it to be. That is probably why it sounds warm and fuzzy. I only have hd 58x to compare with, but I find it k7xx has more details than hd58x tho. Especially when you listen to classical music, hd58x sounds somewhat congested while k7xx sounds more open and airy.

dk4everI didn’t think about the slow bass frequency, I honestly think that’s the really lacking thing about this headphone for me. I have a pair of 6xx, so I rarely use the k7xx for music. Great insight especially the “fuzzy” description haha.
