I've owned K701, always enjoyed the sound. With these, I find the sound improved (well, more to my liking). Comfort, though, is a bit of an issue now, compared to the old K701 and the Sennheisers and the Beyerdynamic I own. These clamp my head far too tight, and the earpads are too rigid. So... fantastic sound, mediocre comfort. Somehow I have a hope that comfort will improve as I keep on using them :)

AlekssseyThey should. My old Q701's had a similiar design as these K7XX. I remember it clamping my head uncomfortably tight initially, but over time it loosened up and fit perfectly.

AlekssseyAn update: After one month they are still uncomfortably tight. Also, another nuisance surfaced and shows no signs of improvement: the right cup gives off a loud plasticky squeal when it moves even slightly it its swivel - meaning it makes itself known with every small movement of my jaw and with every turn of my neck. I'm seriously disappointed in this iteration of otherwise wonderful set of cans. It may be that Drop is cutting some manufacturing and quality-control corners to make its offerings cheaper.

AlekssseyThank you Alek for the detailed information. Sound quality is one thing, but comfort is of utmost importance for me. If I can't wear it comfortably on my head, I don't care how good it sounds.
