As I mentioned in an earlier comment, I had 2 AKG drops through the shipping provider going to Ireland (republic, not northern) and haven't had to pay any customs duties, but it's generally not a bad idea to expect them and have the money available. Best case you don't have to pay it and can spend it on something else. :)

You should consider buying with bitcoins. The customs people can't calculate VAT on BTC because it's not a secured monetary exchange. ;). As far as they are concerned it's an exchange not a purchase. Go cryptocurrency. And if you time your purchase right you can get a super great deal due to btc volatility.
