So I got mine yesterday and my first impression is that the highs seem WAY too harsh, which is not something mentioned in any of the reviews I've read. Will this get better with burn-in? Anyone have a similar experience?

dasizemanWhat do you use as a source? Do you have a dac/amp or do you use them directly from the phone/pc?

Stonetooth@Supra I was using Audio Technica ATH-M50s. @Stonetooth , I am using an old Sound Blaster X-Fi DAC and running that into a JDS Labs Objective 2.

dasizemanHave you tried disabling all the various X-Fi Crystalizer, EAX, & CMSS-3D effects on your X-Fi? Those settings majorly mess up how the music sounds. I just use my X-Fi with CMSS-3D for games and movies (along with a JDS O2). I also gave up trying to get ASIO/WASAPI drivers to work on the X-Fi due to Creative's poor driver/high bitrate support (it would actually crash and freeze my Win7 PC). I actually went back to the onboard Realtek ALC892 soundchip to get proper WASAPI support until I could afford my current Schiit Bifrost/Asgard 2/Lyr 2 stack for music.
ATH-M50 should sound waaaaay more V-shaped than the KXX. I couldn't stand the piercing treble and bloated bass of my friend's M50 vs the much more neutral KXX/K702 65th Annies.

dasizemanAfter 2 days of use the harshness for me went away for all but a few songs, ex. R.I.C.O. by Drake and Meek Mill. So yes they get better with the harshness after probably 10 hours.

liamlkf2@AvroArrow @liamlkf2 Thanks a lot for the feedback. I think the effects you describe are turned off, but I'll check. I have actually experienced the same thing, after the first week the highs have seemed to calm down a lot, whether that's due to burn-in or me getting used to the new sound signature, I'm not sure. But I have read that these need anywhere from 150-300 hours burn in, so I'm hoping it only gets better.
