People say this a lot but I am having a crisis. I have ATH-m50s now. I bought into the MKBHD hype and I got them for cheap. I like them a lot but recently tired my friends hd558 and I think open back is the way for me. I have always had a go big or go home mentality which is why I'm here.
Do I get the HiFiMan he400i for $250, Bank on the 6xx for $200 or a used 650 for about the same price, ORR the 7xx for $200.
All paired with the Schiit Stack Modi 2 and Magni (Unless someone can convince me otherwise)
I don't have much experience with what I like in terms of sound quality. I just want something I'm going to be impressed by. You know? I listen to a lot of music but mostly alternative, jazz, and rock. And heck my untrained ears might not be able to tell the difference anyways, if that's the case please let me know.
I have done a lot of research and I could convince myself I want any of these headphones, but I want some feedback from real world experience.

ECloud3I don't know and have not listened to the HiFiMan headphones, but... I have both the HD 650's and the K7xx with a similar Schiit stack, Vali 2/Modi 2Uber/Wryd (I know, I'm one of THEM!)
The Senns sound warmer and more musical than the AKGs, but have a pretty high clamping force on the head. The ones I have were made in Ireland circa 2009. I have always loved them, but can't wear them too long.
The AKG's to me also sound great, but different. They are way more analytical, have deeper bass and brighter sounding highs. Their sound staging is better too. They are also incredibly comfortable, with way less clamping force than the Sennheisers. It depends on how big your head is for the comfort factor!
The K7xx is also very inefficient despite their low impedance, and very amp dependent. You would be fine with Schiit stack you mentioned, and I highly recommend their products.
Good luck!
