If my speakers have a volume mixer will plugging this headset into that suffice or will I need an actual amp?

RickC322link to speakers? Probably still advisable to get an amp to get the full sound out of these but if your talking decent equipment (like good stereo) then the amp inside it should be good. Just link what you've got.

RickC322I would recommend a dedicated AMP with something like that. That's likely worse than the amp you might find in your motherboard directly out of your computer.

RickC322that would be insulting to these fine headphones. they have a cheap tube job here that works well: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/little-dot-i-headphone-amp I would look at some of the Fiio options if you need something portable...and cheap.
