What can I pair this with as far as DAC/AMP configuration? I'm really new to audiophile stuff and these are my first cans.

AngelowaslikeJDS Labs Objective2 should have plenty juice to power these well.

AngelowaslikeI picked up a Schiit Fulla 2 for $99 that I'm pairing with this headset. Have not received either yet, but from what I'm reading on Head-Fi and other websites, even the original Fulla was a good pairing with the K7XX.

Aschmitty6Do you know what the difference is between the Mayflower, JDS, and other Objective 2 DAC/AMP combos is? I've seen a bunch of different combos labelled as "Objective 2".

KonaSaurusfrom what i've read, it is actually a design that was open sourced onto the web by a really smart dude, basically not copywrited, so a few do it yourself companies have taken the design and put models into production.

Aschmitty6Ah ok. So they should all sound the same, it comes down to features I'm guessing.

KonaSaurusThis will be my pair too. I received Fulla2 just before Christmas. Hopefully AKG will sound good.
AngelowaslikeHell, you can even power it with an SMSL M3 if you want to. I will personally use the Schiit Modi 2 DAC and Asgard 2 Amp.
Angelowaslikedoes anyone know if the fiio e17 alpen is good for these just curious

KonaSaurusNo difference other than the inputs/output options, and the casing. Some PCBs are customized to be smaller though. You can even get a kit and solder it yourself (cheapest option). Here's the original blog created by NwAvGuy as a FU to expensive amp/dacs: http://nwavguy.blogspot.ca/

chickenstrip2400Yes, Fiio is good. They will work even on soundboards found in Macs and iPods, but the dedicated DAC/amplifier opens them up more to their full potential.
