Alright, I just know I'm going to be judged a bit for this question, but how would these compare to some Beats Studio headphones? Before you get too judgmental, be aware that I know Beats aren't good. I never intended to buy them, but when I saw the $299 set on clearance for $49.99, I figured they were probably worth that. And they aren't good, but they also aren't terrible for something I throw around at work and sweat on at the gym. But I'd like something a bit better sounding for home use. I'm still not asking for anything amazing, just decent. I was thinking I'd pair these with the $40 headphone amp that's on here currently. I appreciate your thoughts and opinions. Thanks.

Oh boy do I got an update for us all. I reached out to the Support Team and they responded to me by saying this,
" We do apologize for the delay in shipping your order and are doing everything we can to resolve this as soon as possible.
Your concerns about this drop are understandable and our logistics team is looking into what is going on but seems like the vendor did not have enough units to fulfill these orders and we had to wait a few days for them to finish production of the items".
They also said to keep watch for future updates via email from their "logistics team". Seems they just forgot to manufacture a couple pairs.
Hope I could ease the frustration! :)

ManuTRThe post sales discussion is mainly for us consumers to share our opinions of why we got these headphones and/or why they are good. Also this is the section where you normally get updates on status of your package (Post Shipment), and while you wait to hear from people and wait for updates its also a nice place to maybe have a casual chat about headphones (like what's new) with the other people here. :)

heraldo_jonesI read a review of the headphones on polish audiofile site and the author compared m220 pro with k240 mkII and although they use the same drivers they are tuned very differently therefore you shouldn't be looking at m220 pro through the prism of k240 mII's response graph. Moreover they have a ton of positive reviews saying these sound more like 100$+ headphones. And yes, your K701 will for sure have a more neutral response curve but they are almost 3 times as expensive. Clearly you don't need to upgrade but don't dismiss those ENTRY LEVEL headphones.

Im sure these sound nice but please, 'Pro' and 'Reference' are a long way from the truth. I wish people wouldn't use these terms for hifi headphones. As a 'Pro' sound engineer who often needs to 'reference' how audio actually sounds these would *coughs* not be my 1st choice for the titles which they so proudly purport themselves to be :) Now if these were a re-release of the AKG 240DF [note the DF]... now THAT would be a pro reference headphone :D (one can only dream) Lets not forget, whenever AKG releases a world beating headphones they quickly stop making them o_0

Any veterans of Massdrop out there, answer a question.....This is the first order for me on this site. Is this the norm with most of their products, or is this a special case cause its the "Massdrop" specific Headphones?

This is the fourth drop I joined and to be fair this is the first instance I didn't get any updates at all. Usually I got 2 or 3 before it shipped, but I find it weird that estimated date has passed and I've yet to see a mail telling me what is happening.

ShicksThis is rarely ever the case usually the orders will even come sooner than expected. this seems to be a AKG problem then massdrop. I just really hope they ship them before my girlfriend goes off to college without them

In response to that sentiment, we worked with AKG to create three new colorways of the M220, resulting in the M220 Pro. There’s a black, a blue (midnight blue, matching the 6XX), and a red (same red as in the k7XX red).
For $49.99 with free shipping to the US, there’s no better option if you want to see what the audiophile experience is all about.
It’s also worth noting, these can take a punch, so if you’re looking for a travel headphone or a gift for the student in your life, know the M220 Pro won’t let you down.

Drop status update.
As all of you know, the AKG x Massdrop M220 Pro Headphones are currently delayed. We have reached out to AKG and they have let us know that the headphones have been completed and moved via truck to the airport. They're currently being held there due to flight delays related to the typhoons currently hitting the area. Once the weather clears and normal transportation operations resume, we will get the headphones to our warehouse in New Jersey and have everything shipped out within a couple of days. We're terribly sorry for the delay and remind you that you can cancel your order if you no longer wish to wait. In the meantime, we will make sure we get an update sent out as soon as we get confirmation that our plane is on the way.

Tom_1Thank you so much, that's literally all i need. That's more than i wanted, a little there delayed and we're waiting for the typhoon would be fine but honestly now that I have an idea what's happening I can sit here and not feel like I'm waiting for hl3 to be released.
