Just looking for a clarification on the lack of tilt angle lock like I am assuming many others are also. My understanding is the chair will still be lockable in the ability tilt or not tilt, but unable to lock as a specific angle. Is this correct?
I also want to have this clarified before making a decision.
Also, the email stated a $25 refund, but I was only refunded $10. Anyone else notice this discrepancy?
I also need to know this.
Being able to lock at the "up" position but not at any angle will be fine. But sitting down and being laid out on my back will not be fine.
And if you read this @Spyder, yes I only got $10 also (got $20 but for two chairs).
On my AKRacing Max (dropped this past summer) it has a basic tilt lock that doesn't keep a specific angle, just tilting or no tilting. My chair has a dedicated arm for this on the left hand side. Pictures of the Aero (which I have now ordered as a xmas gift for my SO) lack this arm entirely. I would guess there's no lock at all, meaning it just rocks when you lean back.
Half my chairs in my office do this, and having a back injury I hate it. My SO is still up in the air about whether she can tolerate it.
From what the specs sheet said tilt lock, and tilt angle lock were two distinct features. The email stating tilt angle lock leads me to believe the tilt lock is a, separate feature and still intact but I am unsure. Also from my understanding the tilt of the chair was separate from the "recline". Tilt to my understanding being the angle of the seat itself, and recline being the angle of the backrest in relation to the seat which is a separate adjustment from the overall tilt.
My assumption was that on this chair the backrest angle was controlled by the dedicated arm similar to the one you described on your max. The tilt lock was a function of the same lever that controls the hydraulic height position (as I've seen on many office chairs) and the tilt angle would be an additional lever in the underside of the seat located near the height adjustment.
Mind you I could be completely wrong on any/all of these assumptions and hoping for a quick response because if my understanding is correct I definitely want option 1 of the choices given to us but need to know soon given the time limit.
Yeah, I also only got a $10 refund per chair (bought 2 chairs).
Thought that was weird.
Yep, I also only received $10 so definitely not worth the feature removal for me...
Until I saw the replacement chair would be received next week instead of end of January. Decisions!
Just to clarify, the Max has 2 arms that stick out to control the seat, and a level that controls the backrest. I was under the impression most if not all AKRacing chairs had this setup. An arm on the left side to control tilt lock (tilt including the seat, not just the back), an arm on the right to control the height, and a lever like in car to control the angle of the back in relation to the seat.
Ahh ok I see what you mean. When looking at the images of the aero if you look at image 15,it appears that there is a tilt lock on the lever that also handles height. Push in/out to lock and pull up to adjust height based on the diagram on the lever in that image.
So it's only a feature that allows you to lock the seat/backrest back 10 degrees?
Just received another email from massdrop.com support that the $10 was a mistyped entry and that I would be receiving an additional $15 and it looked like that applied to everyone.
