Well, I am pretty happy with my Liquid Carbon 2.0. While this is a decent deal for those who never have had a Cavalli amp and want to own one, this is a decent price point. I do not feel the need to dip my toe in for this one. His amps always have long lead times so this is nothing unusual. His reputations is very good or else it would be a leery to wait that long. I would bet its worth the money and that wait.
I have the LC 2.0 as well, it's the only Cavalli product I have, but based on it, not only would I not hesitate to buy a Cavalli product, I would favor it over alternatives. Man, the LC is just sonic heaven.
What DAC do you use btw?
Due to budgetary restraints I use a Schiit Bi-Frost Uber and sounds great!
Someday a Schiit Gumby or standard Gungnir and upgrade later. Just have a few other
things to worry about for now... This price point is awesome just to be able to get a Cavalli Amp.
Is it better than the Schiit offering around the same price? Not so sure about that but it's hard to go wrong either way. That time lag does stink though, and this is long even by MassDrop standards...
I have same question.. schiit has real warranties at similar prices...which makes me lean towards them whether this is better seems subjective and im not going to pay today and wait until next year, by then something will happen to make me regret... but id gladly pay you tomorrow for a cheeseburger today!
I have the original liquid carbon....it's an Ok amp.
I find it pretty neutral...maybe even a little boring.
I love Schiit Gear! They honor warranties and are REALLY awesome people! One can argue sound, as well as other things but I am not even going to consider NOT getting a Schiit DAC to replace my BiFrost when I can! There may be better gear, there may not be, but it IS hard to beat a made in the USA gear with a REAL 5yr warranty! I bought the LQ 2 for a change of pace and I can buy the Schiit equivalent anytime, not so with a Cavalli. I REALLY struggled on what Amp to get. But in the end I like my Cavalli LQ 2 and I am not into collecting Amps. The Schiit offering vs. this Hybrid Cavalli is a close one but if time is a big deal, get the Schiit equivalent. Should you want to own a Cavalli amp for a small price of admission, this is the way to go. It was hard for me to choose, it will be hard for many here.
Huh I don't find it neutral at all, this is a gooey sound signature, like they wanted a bit of tube sound. I don't think hardcore audiophiles would like it, for that reason.
I think schiit is great midrange and up, I am not keen on their entry level offerings, other than Fulla.
Maybe I like tubes too much..😜
Well if you're into tubed no solid state is going to satisfy you lol. I love tubes but they're a bit of a hassle and the constant itch to buy more tunes Jacks up the total costs
Well it will be awhile before I have any money to spend so its all good! :-)
