Finally got mine today after the long wait. I was feeling a bit of buyer's remorse for a couple months after jumping on this one since the legendary liquid carbon became available right after, wounds which were reopened when the drop for the THX collab amp appeared, but all of that disappeared the moment I plugged in my EMU teaks and pressed play. This thing cost the same amount as my previous hybrid amp, the Project Sunrise III, but the difference is night and day to me. There 's none of the warmth I had with the old amp; it leaves the sound as colorless as the glass around the tube, and there's 0 background noise even at high volumes on these sensitive headphones. Everything about the dynamics is so much more impressive, and the bass on my reference track, "Like the Devil" by The Rain Within, was punchier than I've ever heard it. All I can say is that I felt the rumble in my head like I was at a concert. I've never heard the liquid carbon, but I can sure say that no one who buys this instead should feel afraid of missing out on a high-end amplifier sound.

fladorHow has the amp been treating you? I just joined the most recent drop and also own a pair of EMU Teaks and I'm trying to make sure this is going to be a good combination.

Babbage78 90% of my listening is with the EM-Us, and I still feel like they pair really well. I use Ebony earcups on mine, which have the best bass slam but suffer from having less control, but the amp really pulls that back in line. I used to find them fatiguing after a while but everything sounds tight and clean now. I think the noise floor is one of the most significant improvements for the teaks, since they're pretty sensitive and pick up some hiss on my other equipment, but there's none here. Unless you already have all that with your current amp, I think you'll be happy with the CTH!
