Hey Guys - I wanted to ask if anybody felt that the supplied EH 6922 tube muddies up the mids and it becomes unbearable even after 40 hours of burn in?
Now, even though Tube Rolling isn't really recommended, I've swapped it out with a JAN Philips 6922 and suddenly the sound has gone a lot clearer.
Anybody else with the same experience?
KdAwgNope, mine sounds great with the mids with the stock tube- not dissimilar to my >$1000 amp but I've not done back to back or critical comparisons yet.
Perhaps you had a bad tube to start with? Mine didn't sound good when i first powered it up but it sounded a lot better the next day.

KdAwgMy experience is similar to yours. Amp was clearer after I replaced the tube with mullard e88cc. Has your impression changed

nojohMy experience with the stock EH tube has improved. The muddy mids had gone away after a week of burn-in.
I don't have the fortune of owning a Mullard NOS tube, but the EH is doing fine when compared to other NOS tubes like the JAN Phillips or the Reflektor 6N23.
I do have a caveat: I haven't been able to use it very much since I wrote the comment though.
