G3n3r1cASR is a hot steaming mess of misinformation. The main guy behind it has been discredited by multiple sources as he can't get measurements done right, and seems mainly to post up information just to create conflict (he's already been booted from multiple other sites, including one that he co-founded).
RockyMountainsI half agree and half disagree with the ASR conclusions (no comment on his measurements). While I do like my CTH, it does have hazy background noise vs. a clean solid-state amp. However, the CTH clearly improves the listening experience with dead/monotone masters. The tube adds a bit of sizzle and accentuates notes and transitions. Given that Amir at ASR rips on Schiit at every turn, I can understand why he's not popular (even though I also half agree with him about Schiit).
RockyMountainsNo such thing has happened. Indeed everytime people say this, I show my conclusions are correct with the other people's measurements! See this article I recently wrote on Schiit Yggdrasil DAC: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/are-measurements-of-schiit-yggdrasil-dac-inconsistent.3812/
The only conflict is that I say what the measurements reflect. The others say what is good for manufacturers and their relationship to get free gear and such.
Be on the side of consumers. Don't act like the PR person for manufacturers by creating such FUD.
amirmYour claims to match other peoples' measurements have been refuted by the authors themselves, who have taken exception to having their work mischaracterized.
Not even going to click on that link. ASR sources have left such a trail of acrimonious destruction across multiple forums that I'm not going to go back there. Reading Jimster's conspiracy-theorist hate mongering there was especially cringe worthy.
