I really, really like this little amp. Currently have it paired with a Metrum Musette DAC and HD800 cans although I frequently swap between the HD800's, a pair of Hifiman HE-400S and my newly acquired Meze 99 Noir. The HD800 is a fantastic pairing. Airy, spacious, detailed and extremely engaging in such a way that even now, months after acquiring it, it still surprises and delights me. Bass isn't the most powerful or tightest around but it is plenty accurate and with the Meze 99 Noir cans can it still has enough authority to shake my skull on my favorite rap, pop and hip-hop tracks. For the money this is a fantastic amp and despite having owned amps that costed many thousands of dollars this is the one that I've kept the longest and have been most satisfied with in terms of price to pleasure ratio.

Domho7I didn't like it with the LCD-2C. Not fazer so that may not be a completely accurate test. I agree with the review that this amp is great with the HD-800 and a similar HifiMan (I have the HE-4XX).

SoixIt's been a really long time since I paired the 400S with anything but the CTH amp and I no longer own any other desktop amps so I am afraid I can't answer that question to your satisfaction. I will say the CTH amp is really satisfying with pretty much every headphone or IEM that I have tried it with and lately I have been enjoying it with the Drop JVC-HA-FDX1 Dual Carbon IEM's. The background has a slight hiss but the combination is so pleasing to the ears that it's completely worth it.
