So I've spent the past few days with my LCX with a few of my headphones and it's been going great. The LCX has a lot of power for sure, especially out of the balanced out, which has plenty of headroom even with my R70X (which is the most demanding headphone I have in terms of power). I've been spending the most time with the HD 800 as the pairing is quite good. The slight warmth helps the HD 800 which can be distant sounding at times while still letting the details pop. The HD 800 is still bright don't get me wrong, but emotional parts of tracks I'd usually find a bit too analytical with other pairings sound a lot more lush for a lack of a better word. I didn't find the LCX to be overtly warm, in fact I was expecting it to be warmer based on people's impressions, but it's just a slight tilt. I did find with my R70X, the more intimate sound sometimes feel a bit too closed in than what I prefer, but it does drive the R70X effortlessly and does not falter in the lower mids which the headphone otherwise can sound a bit muddy with lower power devices. Speaking of that, the low end is quite good, it doesn't intrude needlessly but when the track calls for it, it's quite tight and impactful. I don't agree with the sentiment that it adds a lot of bass though.

FrostyPit depends more on your headphones honestly. The HD 800 isn't exactly the best choice for it given how sharp some j-pop tracks can be, but the amp does help because usually the upper mids dip on the HD 800 sucks the life out of some female vocal tracks and I definitely don't feel that with the LCX. That said, tracks that would pierce and occasionally hit that sibilant level still do so so I wouldn't necessarily expect the LCX to smooth over the upper register for you. That said, as long as the track isn't overly bright, it is quite enjoyable. I spent quite a bit of time listening to Suara's Utawarerumono vocal OST and it sounded quite great.
I suspect my pre-fazor LCD-2 or AD2000 would be a better pairing for brighter stuff with the LCX, but the former isn't in my hands currently so I'll have to wait a bit to find out (probably sometime this weekend).

EinTheVarianceSo I just received my Massdrop Cavalli Liquid Carbon X amp, My first impressions are very good my music sounds smooth & accurate with warm tones. It was packaged very well also to my ears this amp sounds more open with better treble & mids on high gain. This amp is well worth the purchase & I'm very pleased, Thanks Massdrop..enjoy

KITTYyou would chain with a DAC like P C > DAC > LCX. Do you have a DAC?

EinTheVariance I'm pretty much all new at these kinds of things. I'm trying to get into better audio equipment and I understand that there's some researching to do.
I have uploaded couple images so you guys can guide me on how to connect these amps/dac & PC. It'll be helpful if you guys can draw the outlines for me and which cables I need to get.
Once again, I appreciate for the help!

This is my back plate I/O info for my motherboard (MSI Z97 gaming 7 )

I do not have a specific DAC, but I do have the Massdrop O2+ODAC (revB). If I remember correctly, I believe you can use the O2+ODAC as separate DAC.

KITTYno worries! In regards to the O2+ODAC, I believe you can just plug the ODAC via USB to your PC, and then connect RCA cables from the O2+ODAC to the SE INPUT of the LCX. Any RCA cables will do, but I'll link one for reference: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003L1717K/
To my understanding, you do not need to plug the power on the O2+ODAC or turn the O2+ODAC on as the ODAC part is powered by the USB connection and the power is there for the O2 amp (I'm mentioning this because with some O2+ODAC, turning it on will change the RCA from line out to line in, which you do not want. I am not sure whether the Massdrop version behaves this way but it looks like it does based on the symbols, so keep the O2+ODAC off).

Ringing in PC38X's

I recently got this headset, and wow is it good. My only issue is when certain people talk on discord, I can hear a really high pitched ringing. I fiddled with a bunch of settings, computer audio and discord, and nothing seems to solve the issue. It is primarily if not all in my right ear only. Is there something wrong with my headset, or was that ringing always there I can just hear it cause the headset is THAT good? I haven't had any issues with any other application, though I have yet to test if I can hear the ringing on a different version of discord, say on my xbox instead of my pc. Only other issue I've had is occasional static, but I can't tell if it's from the headset or the show/game/etc.

Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?

Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Recommendation for my next headphone set? I have Koss 95x

Hey all, What would you recommend I get next and why? I have Koss ESP-95x electrostatic massdrop headphones. These are my first and only audiophile set. I love them. I think my only real requirements is $500 or less for the headphones and that they have a little more low end. I don’t need thump but these are really light on lows…but the experience is still awesome. Also any recommendations on an amp? I only have my electrostatic thingy. Should I exchange the PC38X for better headphones?

I bought the PC38X headphones FOR GAMING and they are great, but I have NO use for a Microphone since I don't do competitive gaming and I was wondering if there were better headphone options at a similar price without a headphone, where (presumably) more of the cost was put into making it sound better.
