ok so im finally getting to do some listening tests tonight and tomm and will report my findings soon. one negative i can say so far is the type of finish used. no offense but i hate the finish. it gets marked up just from touching it and when i used a NEW ultra soft microfiber towel to try to wipe the whitish marks off of it it just made it worse. so now i have these kind of lighter spots on the top of it. im hoping it doesnt get worse but its not fingerprint and cleaning friendly imo. for those that dont have them yet its a sort of rubbery kind of soft feeling finish. i really wish it was just a anodized brushed aluminum or even paint a matte black over this stuff. otherwise the finish had no marks in it. and please for the love of god stop using smartpost!!!!! it sucks SO BAD. mine sat as usual forever. this time sat at the post office hub for 4 DAYS before it went to my local post office. and the box is beat to ALL HELL. luckily you guys used a lot of padding but my box is destroyed and i like to keep boxes for these types of things so im bummed. any way to get a spare box??

soft touch finishes can be cleaned, just use a damp cloth instead of a dry one.

I’ve received my LCX back in March this year, after joining the drop in September. The LCX was the ‘Massdrop-Cavalli’ amp that impresseed me the most on paper and it was a no brainer to me to join the drop immediately, while my impressions were not so favorable for the CTH that was presented just a couple of months before.
However, after reading so many good reviews on the CTH, I’ve decided to pull the trigger on this one as well, since it is now showing up quite regularly on one-day drops.
I’ve received the CTH two days ago... and I could immediately notice a clear difference in its finishing when compared to the LCX. Even though my LCX is not so sensitive to fingerprints, its surface is a matte and more coarse one, totally different to the finishing of the CTH, which is more “glossy” and “smooth”. The difference is also visible in the color of the two chassis: the LCX has a lighter shade of black, while the CTH come in a full darker black.
I’m not happy about the difference in the finishing/color of the two units... and, by the way, the finishing of the CTH is obviously the better / superior one.

There’s also a difference in the power supplies of the CTH and LCX. The one delivered with the LCX is more user and region friendly, since it comes with a detachable outlet cord, which makes it very easy to swap it for a different one that can match the specific type of plug used anywhere in the world.

The power supply of the CTH is delivered with a fix/not swappable US standard plug, which requires an external adapter for conversion, as required. :-(

P.S. The CTH has been shipped by Massdrop properly packed into an outer packaging, so the box of the CTH itself is in mint conditions. The LCX, instead, was shipped without an external packaging and it is now showing the signs of the handling it’s gone through during shipping... not to mention that I could only partially remove the various labels and document pouches sticked to it :-/
