This thing is a fucking monster. It’s pairs well with everything I have tried. I am thinking about buying another one dedicated to stack with my Yulong DA9 because they are absolutely amazing together. It sounds so good with the CTH’s SDAC I have to dedicate it to the Cavalli stack.
And anyone iffy on Cable upgrades shouldn’t be. I have done a complete cable up grade from source (Moon-Audio Silver Dragon USB A to USB B & Cardas USB A to USB B) to interconnects (Cardas Balanced XLR, RCA, iLink 3.5mm to RCA) and it’s totally worth it. Power cords are next. Just to make me feel good. Not for a while though. Bank account needs a break.

Lostdog54I've upgraded all my cables except power. What power cables are you looking at?

Apex_PredatorI’m probably going with a Cardas power cable. I think they are about $600 for the cheapest one they have. Probably wait for a sale or Black Friday. But I am convinced that cables do allow optimal listening. Owning some more expensive headphones and Dac/Amps make me feel they deserve good cables. Moon Audio Silver Dragons are great too.

Lostdog54I looked Cardas up and they seem like they'd be really good. I see on Audio Advisor that the Cardas Clear M power cord is currently 50% off. http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=CRCLMPC

Apex_PredatorThanks for the link. I’m going to jump on it. That will mean I’ve replaced all cables now for three set ups including power cables. Really appreciate it. And I promise you won’t be disappointed Upgrading. I’ve enjoyed both the Cardas and Moon Audio silver dragons so far. Would definitely recommend. Even my gf immediately could hear the difference.

Lostdog54Ya I jumped on them too. Such a good deal. My system is just about complete. I'm probably going to get a preamp, and I'm looking to get a different amp for a tonality more to my tastes. I've been eyeing the Liquid Carbon but might jump on a Liquid Gold if I can find one for a decent price.

Apex_PredatorPower cables are a good thing and I've had great results making my own. Personally, I find that the $$ are better spent on power conditioning; I've been using Chang Lightspeed products for a while. Recommended.

MotorradI wonder how much of a difference some power conditioners make over others in a headphone system? I have an old Monster HTS 3600 MKII I bought in 2009 but not sure if it's any good. I've been eyeing the PS Audio Power Plants but those are regenerators so I'm not sure which is better.

gabriel-danMy immediate and biggest observation was things in the music that were recessed before have been brought more forward to present a better more rounded sound signature whereas before I found certain aspects were too muted. The sound was a touch more smooth and less fatiguing. Mid bass was more present. Albums I used to avoid because I didn't like the way they sounded on my system were more pleasant. These particular Cardas Clear M power cords have been discontinued I believe. I can't attest to any other model/brand.
