Sizing help please ! I'm usually a 9.5 or 10 in dress shoes (Florsheim, Cole Haan, Aldo) I measured in 9.5 E on the Brannock in an Allen Edmonds Outlet. I tried on several of their 511 lasts (ORD, LAX, MPR) and 9.5 D was a tad too snug for comfort and 9.5 E fit perfectly ! Now since AE is only offering a 9.5 D or 9.5 EEE, am I going to be okay with the 9.5 EEE ?

nosebeerIf you have access to a AE store, why not ask to try some shoes on the 511 last again, but in a 9.5EEE? According to the Brannock measurement charts, the jump from 9.5E to 9.5EEE is a 3/8 inch increase in foot width.
I'm actually in the same boat as you - really wishing they offered an E or EE width, but debating on trying the EEE. Let us know how it goes if you try a EEE in-store!

Calf_machineThe AE store near me did not carry any 9.5 EEE in any model. And you're right about the 3/8 inch width increase, that's going to be considerably wider than I need. However, I called the store near me and a couple other AE stores and they all seem to agree that 10D might be my best best, since it's almost as wide as the 9.5E and about 4mm more in length. They all unequivocally steered me away from the 9.5 EEE. If the extra length ends up bothering me, I'm just going to wear them with heavier socks, but I doubt it will. I copped a snuff in 10D, now for the agonizing wait !

nosebeerIMO you made the right call. Thick socks or an insert are better alternatives to EEE width.
