I had a question about the fit of these, I got Dundee 2.0 from clearance on AE's site, in 9.5 and 10. I'm a 9.5 brannock, but the 9.5 feels incredibly tight (especially around the toes) and the 10 is a bit loose. I know there is an insole in the dundee and not these. Should I get these in 9.5? I considering returning the dundee and getting these instead.

bnard893The 511 last should fit true. Is it an issue of width?

bhavKinda, yeah. The length seems fine, and the widest part of my feet match up with the widest part of the boot in the 9.5, but my pinkie toe feels like it's being squeezed. Going up to the 10feels like it's a lot bigger. I'm wondering how much of a difference the extra insole of the dundee affects the fit relative to this boot.

bnard893I don't have experience with the Dundee but the MDxAE doesn't have an Poron insole. Poron isn't all that thick but might be just thick enough to crowd your toes. FWIW, the insole in the MDxAE is quick to mold to your feet. I can't give you definitive advice, though.

bnard893I'm a 9D and have about a dozen pair of Allen Edmonds shoes, including the Dundee 2.0. I wear it the least because of the very issues you talk about, and only then with a very thin sock. The fact that it is unlined may make a difference, but it may be a last issue. The 511 last just does not work well for me (the 65 is perfect). That's one of the reasons I am really hesitating. That, and I'm not crazy about how the structured toe stands out in an otherwise unstructured boot.

tch04I'm kind of weird. My right foot has a flatter arch than the left, so it makes it hard to find something that fits both well. I have a pair Strands in 9e that work, except there is a big v gap, and a pair of 108 bulchers in 9.5d that are just a bit tight on the right foot toes. Maybe the 201 last will work well.

bnard893I have two pairs in the 201. Wider in the forefoot than the 65, but tighter across the top of the foot. I really like the fit of the Gobi chukka in the 809, but they don't make anything in that last anymore. I'd suggest trolling ebay for the Gobi in your size. I think you'll be happier with it.

tch04I'm half considering just ignoring the drop and going to the Alden store in DC to try their unlined chukka. It's a lot more, but the anxiety over sizing is turning into a hassle.

bnard893Given what you've said, I think that's a sound course of action.
