TedfordshireAllen Edmond shoes. Many people would argue they're the finest American-made shoes money can buy.
Is it true? I dunno. But that's the word on the street.
TedfordshireI doubt most people would purchase these shoes for bragging rights. I've never owned a pair of AE, but it seems like past owners online are pretty happy with the quality of their shoes.
I joined due to that reputation. I'd rather buy something that lasts, rather than a brand that is popular for popularities sake.
TedfordshireGYW and other welted shoes tend to have much higher quality uppers than cemented shoes because they are resoleable. $240 for an AE shoe is a great deal, considering the quality and heritage of the maker. At this price range there is one other popular maker (Meermin) of similar quality. CF Stead tannery suede (the suede used here) is also regarded as one of the finest suedes in the world. In short, you pay for longevity, construction, and aesthetics. Compare these to say CDB's and the difference in quality will be marked. These chukkas are actually extremely similar to Alden's ataround $500. IIRC, the only difference is that the Alden has wheeling along the welt. Allen Edmonds and Alden are also the last two American shoemakers if supporting MiUSA is important to you. Check out r/goodyearwelt for more info and other cool stitched footwear.
