This knife looks great but feels extremely cheap. It also wasn't very secure in the package, and the tip guard was completely off and loose in the box. I honestly don't see myself ever choosing to use this one over any of my other knives. I'm so surprised by the experience I reached out to Massdrop customer service to let them know. I just don't see how this was the product they intended to ship when they first developed it. 2 stars because it looks nice.
Dark_HelmetHey @Dark_Helmet - May the Schwartz be with you! Oh wait sorry...Hail Skroob!
Sorry that you were not thrilled with how this feels. "Feel" is a tough one for us to address without a bit more context. The handle on this is made from top-quality G-10, which is a premium material - but it is lightweight (intentionally) compared to many kitchen knives (especially if you're used to Western knives with full tangs and riveted handles). If you can let us know if the weight of the handle gave you this impression, that would help a lot. I'd encourage you to try this for a week and let us know if you still feel the same way - the different weight balance threw me at first, but I love mine after using it a bit - I hope you will too, but we want your honest feedback either way. Thanks!
JonasHeineman@JonasHeineman I'm still patiently waiting for Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money - Haha thanks for the laugh. Hey I totally get feel is personal, and the help I got from Massdrop support was excellent. I'm very happy to share some additional feedback, will send a more detailed review to support. I really appreciate that you took the time to reach out. I'm a big Massdrop fan, and little things like this help to reinforce that feeling.
Dark_HelmetI am new to mass drop, although I have made several purchases. Trust in quality is everything. Seems they migh be headed in the wrong direction. You can always, always find a cheaper way to go.
MiekMickThey do amazing work, and have OEM's manufacture the items. This is by the same company as Dalstrong knives, and mine is pretty nice. Every folding knife i have gotten from here has been better than anything in my collection other than ZT and a Viper knife, for literaly half the price.
BenjaboolyBen...that is good to hear. I have bought more than several from Mass Drop and been pretty happy with those with the exception of one, only to find out they have a sort of “all sales final” policy, no exceptions. That did not sit well with me. Most of the sellers I have dealt with will tend to work with you if you have a legit gripe. Not so much with Mass Drop.
MiekMickThey do however do outstanding customer suppourt on the items. I have more than once had a bad item and they send me a new one then have me send back the bad one after i make sure its better. So far I have had no real problems.
BenjaboolyYes, I have heard that from more than a few Mass Drop customers. The truth be known, I’m just kicking myself in the ass for not reading up on their return policies before I purchased anything from Mass Drop and needed to bitch to someone . Also, like your experience, if you have a knife that has some kind of defect or just bad QC, they do give you 30 days. I do still stick with a gripe on that policy. If they are going to become a name brand knife seller( regardless of where it is made) they need to get on par with the rest of their competition. Although I’m a little new to the EDC, and folding carry knives, all that I’ve dealt with up to now have a 60 day unconditional (within reason) return policy. There is no comparison between looking at pictures, and reviews opposed to holding the knife in your hand and I think great knife sellers understand that and try to accommodate the fact that once you physically have it in hand, it might not be what you thought it was. I’m sure that Mass Drop will come along if they get enough customers that complain about their restrictive return policy. Hopefully if I buy another knife from them it will be problem free but I will continue to bitch about their policy...lol.
