Hi all! I want to take a quick moment to introduce myself. I’m Leo, the new product manager for Massdrop Watches. I’m excited to be working on delivering the Ember to you in the coming weeks and want to share a quick update.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Last week we wrapped up production of the hands, dials, and bands, and have moved on to assembly steps for these pieces. Currently, the indices and hands are being fitted with T100 tritium vials - the brightest rating for tritium. The next step will be to install the completed hands and dial on to the movements.
  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The titanium case and crown manufacturing are also underway, with an additional PVD coating step needed for the black models. When each case and crown is complete, the sapphire round is pressed in, and the movement assembly is installed then cased up. Following QC testing, the last step will, of course, be packaging and shipping these out to your doorstep.
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Below are a few new images of production components. We’re very pleased with the results so far and can’t wait to see the hands and dial installed and cased, glowing with T100 Tritium.
 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’ll be back with another update as we get closer to shipment. In the meantime, I’m here for any questions.

leopadronI’m so hoping in final assembly that the movement will allow for the seconds hand to strike on the dial indices. I’m not sure whether it’s the teeth on the internal wheels or the placement of the second hand on the movement in final production. But please be aware that a large majority of the better watch buyers look for proper hand alignment including hour and minute hand placement...Thanks!
RichrichierichardHi Richard: To answer your question, it's a function of how well the sweep hand is positioned during installation. The movement should be stopped, with the hand installed oriented to point directly towards the indice, and then restarted while observing to ensure it's indeed indexing on its marks and not in the middle. And I 100% agree with you that kind of attention to detail matters.

leopadronIt's really too bad you didn't take this opportunity to redesign the dial and make it less boring. (yaaaaaawwwn) I love a 'clean' dial design, but there's a difference between clean, and completely lacking in character. What is that font, Arial? Also Citizen is doing great things with tough titanium, making them scratch resistant as all get out, I can vouch that it works very well. Tritium aside, I wouldn't buy a titanium watch unless it had this option, which makes the surface 5x harder than steel, I have a Citizen watch with it, and there are literally NO desk diving scratches after a LOT of wearing it, it's amazing. You can get Remanned Citizens on eBay (new overstock items) that are made of this for less than $100. And from what I understand, titanium that is raw with no coating, scratches very easily, and if very difficult to polish out or refinish without making it look awful. Long story short, ya'll should have also considered some kind of coating on the titanium case and bracelet. Even that clear liquid that has been sold as a drop at least once...which would be a great thing to try on this watch for those who purchase it

leopadronAre there going to more “Drop” collaborated watched? A smaller vintage diver would set my pockets on fire faster than a war zone dumpster fire

leopadronGood luck with the new product line. I like the idea of this watch, but it's dreadfully bland to look at so I will look forward to a re-styled version 2.0. Also, it's a pity that just after your rollout the site changes its name to "Drop" thereby making you the product manager for the cringeworthy "Drop watches." I personally try NOT to drop my watches whenever possible.

I relish a challenge. :-)
MschwThere absolutely will be. Be prepared to line your pockets with space shuttle tiles!

leopadronI really like the concept of this watch and the materials being used. It nearly does it for me, but the “Massdrop” on the dial is a real turn off. If there is a version 2.0, can you please consider putting “Drop” (assuming a rebadging is inevitable) or better - the fancy logo “D” I’m seeing on some upcoming knives - just on the rear and not on the dial? (Although just the “D” on the front would be ok) Also, I’d love to see this in a more minimalist version with no numerals (almost Junghans Max Bill style) and maybe even a white faced Flieger style version.

chancingStill better than the Armourlite logo. This is the first AL I would buy, because it dosn't have that horrible logo.

prplsageexactly. I liked this watch but was turned off by the massdrop logo so went to see if Armourlite had anything less tacky and was horrified to see their logo.

leopadronSince you have both blue and green tubes available, why not allow for a choice on each dial color? It is well known that the blue tubes are the dimmest to the human eye while the green are the easiest to see. Also and this is technical, how much tritium do these watches average since the designation T100 means up to T100. A watch could be only T26 and still be designated T100. Most watches stamped T100 don't come anywhere near that level of tritium. Even big names like Ball don't begin to get near a T100 level. Any idea what the total tritium level averages for these watches? thanks
