Just saying. You can get real DT1770 for less than these. https://m.thomannmusic.com/beyerdynamic_dt_1770_pro_250_ohms.htm

CokemanReal DT1770? These are a different animal altogether. Drop collaborates and goes out of their way (Christian and the team!) to ‘build a better unit’. Sometimes it is just to lower the pricepoint (ie different packaging and cables included) as consumers want a particular part without any fruit (lower price)... Other times it is from scouring Head-fi and other serious audio communities and figuring out what is highly desired, and then builds a ‘best version’; ie if a few hundred people keep applying a specific modification, why not build it with the mod in the first instance? beyer generally don’t dampen internally etc.. The tesla driver units turn away a lot of potential buyers from due to a very ‘rich’ treble. The detail retrieval of the Teslas’ units are exceptional (often considered in similar leagues to flagships like the Sennheiser HD800- exceptional revealing headwear), but are known to potentially seem sibilant (eg sharp ‘S’ sounds in vocals, too rich a cymbal hit etc). Drops version factors what audiofools like myself want. The re’tuning’, in part done with the replacement pads (not just for comfort!) is why this page shows some frequency plots. These are an improvement. I wouldn’t encourage anyone to buy an ‘original’ part when these have been tinkered with based on much research and effort,.. all given for free by a community of super passionate people. Fortunately Drop employs people to make stuff like this happen. So not only do we get great prices- Drops like this one make parts happen that would otherwise require those unfamiliar with modding to undertake a daunting process and wind up with a draw filled with redundant parts. Just to save the time and effort, I would pay extra. To have these mods performed by a professional tuner with actual empirical evidence to confirm the part isn’t ‘screwed up’? Worth it. To have a unit that others can comment about that is the same as my own? Priceless- it allows me to get useful feedback as to how ancillory equipment might assist a certain playback goal. It took me twenty hours of review scouring to figure out what I might need to do to tame some Teslas... (T90) Whilst I wont mod my headphones, pretuned versions are HIGHLY DESIRABLE. quite a few Drop headsets are quite well regarded vs the vanilla units available at retail. Drop isn’t just a discount brand. Look at Christians ‘followings’- they are significant players in the audio industry. Christian handshakes with more audio gods than typical people ever get to meet in a lifetime.
