Outstanding headphones with worst cable.
Pros: It is really good sounding headphone and unlike other beyerdynamics headphones this is not a treble blaster. It sounds rich and has good body tilted to warmer side. Bass slam is solid. Lows, mids and highs are evenly balanced. Soundstage is very realistic. I was watching youtube and there was a truck passing by in the video and I looked back as I really thought there was a truck passing behind me. Cons: This is not a portable headphones due to the cable it comes with. My purchase was because it was advertised as a GO version in fact it is another desktop headphones. Due to that reason I was unable to recommend this if the goal was to get a portable headphones despite how good it sounds. Now with the custom cable adapter below, I can now recommend this as a portable headphones. =========== Same as how I modified the Fostex TH-X00 to have detachable cable without modifying the headphones(https://drop.com/talk/8056/talk/2096979?utm_source=linkshare&referer=7BCD5T), I had to do another DIY. https://drop.com/talk/37040/how-to-make-custom-cable-adapter-for-dt-177-x-go It would have been really nice if DROP included an adapter like this (but more prettier one) so we can choose the cable we want instead of the bundled stiff cable. ========= Update Found the plastic on the headband cracked. Warranty just expired. Build quality is not in par with other Beyerdynamics headphones. Now I can't recommend this. Would be better to go with DT1770 instead?

ridhuankimsooo lemme get this straight, you give headphones 1* review because the company doesnt meet your demands for free stuff while the definitions and weaknesses of the provided cable are already stated?

ridhuankimHow is it misleading? It has a detachable cable so you can easily buy a replacement cable. This is a childish review lol. It reads more like a temper tantrum than anything else. You didn't even pretend to review the product.

WookheadHave you tried bringing this headphone out? Did you try it in a train or bus? Do you have the TA4F wiring schematics? Are you 100% confident the cables you buy on ebay will work? Please share the link if you have already found the cables, would appreciate it.

ridhuankimHere you go-these cables work https://hartaudiocables.com Also as per Ebay, you can NEVER be sure that ANYTHING you buy from Ebay will work as advertised, since its the seller on Ebay responsible for the cable that you buy, and clearly not Drop-all I can say that the cable drop provided works, so they completed this part, so im not ceraint what ur getting at Also by "Portable" they mean the impedance, you can run them from a phone, unlike the 1770 that barely runs without an amp, even from a laptop plug, not even mentioning a phone How do I know? I have 770-80 ohms and 1770 Pros(amongst many other headpnoes from AT, Sony and whatnot), and if my 770 does sort of work on my phone jack, albeit quiet, the 1770 I barely hear a mouse fart, the 177x I hear it at a good sound level As for the provided sheepskin pads, you do realise it depends on the persons head right? they fit mine, they might not fit yours-all head dependent which we all have different And yes they are balanced capable, having capability doesnt mean you will have all the necessary tools from the get-go, for example I am capable of building a car, all I need is knowledge, materials and time

Phantom_NyanThanks for the link. I am looking for affordable option to replace the cable and also need to ship to Australia. If you like the headphone and if you don't have any complaints than good on you. Just because it has low impededance it should not be named portable. That would be misleading. Why isn't fostex TH-X00 named portable then since it can be driven by almost anything. Portable should mean portable. It's Cable is the one that prohibits portability. If you use it at your desk it is fine but I have other headphones for that purpose. Review means sharing honest feedback and no one has to agree. It is indeed subjective. It seems people want to hear only the good things but I am sure if anyone is considering to buy this because it is advertised to be portable then they need to know in reality it is not. Sounds great, many people already did extensive review on that. Portability is not. I wouldn't recommend this if purchasing for portability. Headphone impedance is not that important here as many people (including myself) are willing to bring portable dac/amp/dap on the road and I have no problem driving 600 ohms or planar headphones. I have someone on ebay who is willing to make custom cable for me so I should be fine after that. If Drop included flexible and shorter cable then it would have been way better.

ridhuankimOkay then, if we come back to the point of your review it's not me saying that I only wanna hear about good things, I agree that the cable is indeed an issue But then we come back to your review, giving headphones the worst rating cuz of a cable not being to your liking? I find the review inadequate at best then

Phantom_NyanYep. You don't have to agree and that is perfectly fine. Our priorities are different.

ridhuankimYou weren't getting "love" for pointing out a misleading part. You got "love" because you gave something a 1 star review because it didn't come with something you wanted, sounded like a whiny millennial, and did literally zero review of the product. A 1 star review was unwarranted based on that, and did nothing to add to the discussion. It was a bad "review" (i.e. not a review). Thanks for giving more insight.

ridhuankimYou're being a dick rating this headphone one star based on cable alone. I don't "want to hear only the good things" but I didn't come here to read whiny complaints about the damn replaceable cable either.

EcneThanks for your opinion and I am giving you a thumbs up for it. If you actually bought this thing and if you like it then you should give as much stars you wish. I bought it and it is bad not just the cable, I even had to forcefully bend the steel headband to get it seal properly. It doesn't deserve 5 stars in my opinion. 1 star is all it gets from me. If you like it, you should review it and rate it. Don't go whine about other people's opinion. If you don't like it you have the right to ignore it.

ridhuankimThe DT-177X GO is marketed as "portable" with an impedance of 32 Ohm, which is easier to drive with a laptop/phone (no external amp needed, as with the 250 Ohm DT-1770 Pro).

ridhuankimI came across this review as I’m trying to find a replacement cable for mine, so I totally agree with your gripe there. However, I do agree with the others that it should t merit a 1-star review. Sadly, this is how people are mostly with reviews on Amazon – they’re either 5-star or 1-star, both of which are rarely deserved. If you disliked everything about them, I suppose 1-star would be appropriate, but since you seem to have liked the sound quality, that should be reflected in your rating. So for the sake of integrity I hope you’ll objectively reconsider your rating. All the best to you.

JRTaylorMusicyeah, that is why it went up to 3. But I am ot using this Headphone anymore once it cracked. I had high expectation from Beyer as I had many from them and their sound and build was top notch. But this... was completely the opposite. Currently I am enjoying my other headphones and this is just collecting dust. A cracked headphones wont sell for a good price. Hope yours will last in good condition.
