Prepaid 450 while ago , waited and got them just few days ago, paid tons of Irish import tax and now its 400 :( this is unfair

fin17015 euro carrier also charged me for processing custom clearance task :(
Shipment with carrier ( it was USP ) was only 8.54USD surprisingly.
But the headphones are brilliant. I mean sound quality. firing them by SMSL SU-8 + SMSL SP200 fully balanced combination .

ShahoffI too have the SMSL SP200 tho I' have paired mine with the SMSL M300 MKII.
The duty charges & lack of clarity as to the amount is often what deters me from purchasing on here anymore - It isn't Massdrop's fault per se, but I often wonder how much effort would be required to computerise this process both sides of the pond...
It can be quite laborious & often ambiguous, sifting through the classifications listed by Irish Customs.

fin170Issue is not government here, issue is that source is US ( no VAT on sale us such , so you cannot subtract VAT on one end and add on another end of the chain) as well as Fedex/UPS/DHL with automatic Custom clearance , while they could ask. I did couple of time rejected parcels where custom charge + process fee was higher than cost of the purchase.
Ebay did computerise tax part , and charge 0 for that service. I think that Drop can learn from this. As well as EU stock can do very good job for them. Especially in my case , where Headphones been produced in Germany , shipped to US and than shipped to IE - all this forced price up to the point of no purchase. The only reason I purchased them because of the review and balanced connection. On other hand I could get DT1770PRO with two cables and case for way cheaper price, but I still prefer my 177X :)

This is mainly what I am referring to. I understand & can calculate the VAT if it is just 23% but the problem, for me at least, is finding the Import duty (which is then added to the product total which in turn is subjected to VAT).
Revenue.ie is particularly cumbersome and quite subjective/ambiguous in its listings & as such it makes calculating one's purchase often guesswork.
To my mind, Massdrop and comparable sites could adopt an est. of charges that one may face in their respective territory.
They may well deem this too laborious as do I & in return, I tend to shop elsewhere.
