You know, the problem with knives like this--ones with so many holes in the handle--well the things is, if you accidentally drop it in a stream, or a lake sometime, it's gonna sink right to the bottom.

RayFI can’t think of any of my knives with a buoyancy feature... I guess a floater could make a great lanyard attachment for any knife brought to water sports though! And a cloth to dry it immediately after, this ain’t no H1 Salt!

RayFLike the little tablets that you bring to the bath and they expand into sponge animals?
I think a barracuda would suit the personality of this knife well.

RayF*slaps forehead* Wait, I get it! You’re saying it’s a sinker, because it’s a Zinker! I didn’t make the connection to Brad Zinker designs till just now, derp. It ain’t a stinker though... I love the Brad Zinker designs I’ve seen so far, want this one but I spent the fun budget already on a bike for my wife’s health.
Ideas like the floater lanyard, headphone hanger tree, clothes rack folding umbrella, they’re like a dime a dozen from me. Want another? I once participated in a packaging discussion focus group, with a cosmetics manufacturer. They asked how they could make the product look more premium, be more sustainable, and be able to charge more. I was there just as a graphic designer, but I pitched the idea of a shelf-sized vending kiosk, where you buy a starter pack of cream or perfume or whatever (I didn’t hear what the product was), download an app, and then when you run out you can use your phone and the kiosk (via Bluetooth) to refill your capsule. The app could also let you use your camera for a live preview of makeup, suggest companion products, or inform the customer of product launches and availability. I made $100 on the side for contributing a week of discussion, yay! At least it didn’t get in the way of my primary retail/tech support job. When I was 8, I drew a rough sketch for a hovercraft/flying car that used the earth’s magnetic fields and a fan, before those air-cushion hovercraft became a thing.
The real hard part is the effort of bringing a product to market, distribution and managing sales, and protecting your business. The rabid worldwide appropriation of ideas puts me off, too much risk that one of my ideas will end up costing me money. I do have one idea now, relating to audio, that I really want to see come true and I’m going to try to make it happen. I’ll get around the imitator issue by simply making it a free or at-cost promotional product ;)

EvshrugSounds like there could be some cross-over ideas in that mix: floating headphones, or maybe headphones with self-adjusting, inflatable ear pads, or headphones that float above your desk, using the earths magnetic core? What about a button that automatically transfers money from your checking account to MD's account?
Wait, isn't that what the ENTER key does? Well, perhaps no ones thought to Patent that particular usage yet. Hire a good attorney and see if your can nail that one down. That way, you can charge MD a royalty fee each time someone uses the ENTER key to join a drop!
Ha--today MD, tomorrow, Amazon!

RayFThere’s a top-10 list for everything: http://www.bassheadspeakers.com/top-10-best-levitating-bluetooth-speakers/
Air, especially contained air that can’t float away and be replaced by other air of a different temperature, makes for a great insulator. So, I imagine balloon earpads would get quite hot! Same for gel or waterbed-ish earpads, not quite as good insulators but they still block airflow for the inside of the earcups, and have the added disadvantage of being unable to compress (they can change shape but always maintain a constant volume, unlike air or foam that mostly is air). Speaking of water, though, they do make cool underwater headphones, and since we’re talking states of matter there’s also bone-conducting headphones that only make sound when they touch your jaw and leak zero sound to the passerby.
Apparently, the keyboards that Massdrop sells (so you can hit the RETURN key for Massdrop’s other sales) are the bee’s knees!
What is money, but a tool to buy things from Massdrop? We could cut out the middlemoney! Maybe if I get back to reviewing my Massdrop purchases, then Massdrop will consider sending me things for review, and we will reach a self-sustaining, mutually beneficial arrangement! That would float my boat!
lol, I enjoy typing with you.
