BluearcflashHe does make them here in the US but expect those models to be his customs and cost upwards of $300+. His work is exceptional. I passed by his personal booth at BLADE show last year and fondled a few but it was way out of my $$ range. This is a great example of quality being mass produced by WE (which produce awesome knives, btw) in a quality steel (S35vn) for an affordable price. If it wasn't because I was saving up for Blade again this year, I'd jump on this.

carlos.hernandezThey can be made here for a reasonable price. China is not the model of quality or legitimacy

BluearcflashThe same argument can be made for the United States - this is why its so hard to find production knives with quality ergos, steel, and consistency for a cheap price. It's what also keeps the market competitive and allows companies outside of the US to retain a fair share of the market. I'm not defending all chinese knives as copyright laws and cutting corners have been synonymous with foreign manufacturers longer than I can remember, but there are great companies that stand out that manufacture their knives all over asia, including China, Taiwan, Japan, etc. so while your response is relevant to a degree, it is just as much generalized.

carlos.hernandezChina's economy is built on the theft of American ingenuity. I'm not willing to give WE the benefit of the doubt as well as any current chinese company.

BluearcflashWhile I agree that chinese copyright laws leave much to be desired, I disagree with the general (again) statement, as a chinese based company making chinese knives is not as different than a US-based company using chinese factories to create knives. A large majority do this, from Kershaw to Buck to Spyderco. The difference lies in the quality control, and while some companies cut corners to sell a product at a lower price, there are those who don't, and are able to provide a stellar product at a marketable price. Knife designers all over the world understand this, which is why they collab with companies to produce custom, sprint run, midtech, and entry-level knives for the general market. Case in point, I am not here to sway your opinion, but know you are missing out on good quality when certain companies are passed on strictly due to the fact that they are Chinese. You might be surprised what you wear, use, and rely upon on a daily basis that comes from China.

BluearcflashIf you can make something remotely like this in the US and charge reasonable prices then I will buy it and I will get my friends to buy it also. Go for it, dude! This is a golden age of knifemaking.

m0lluskPlenty of overpriced US made knives for sale on the market. If you are looking for outsourced metrics in a competitive production based market you are gonna have a bad time...

Bluearcflash'China' is an enormous country, not a manufacturer.
Which US company other than ZT makes knives like this to the same level of quality and consistency that WE puts out?
I'm sorry but you're so wrong on this that it's sad. Other than ZT, this level of build quality is going to cost $300+ if you're lucky, $400+ if you want something more interesting than Benchmade's decent but boring framelocks.

OmniseedWell, at least the self righteous moron troll showed up. Now the thread is official. I don’t really need a sympathy idiot telling me about the difference in quality and price. I’ve had knives from both and US made trumps chinese mystery “quality” every time.
