So I ordered this tent on the second go around and was wondering if anyone who has already purchased and used the tent, if they are using any kind of footprint with this tent? Most tents these days recommend a footprint of some sorts but I'm always looking to carry less items each time I head out. Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Casey

easydoesitcaseyI've got a few posts on here on this on topic, such as this one: https://drop.com/buy/massdrop-x-dan-durston-x-mid-1p-tent/talk/2284109 There's also quite a few more posts if you search the discussion for "groundsheet" or "footprint". In short though, the idea was to equip the tent with a floor that is durable enough for normal use without one, so you shouldn't need one with reasonable care. But if you camping on rock/gravel etc then it can be a good idea.

easydoesitcaseyWith all my tents l cut a custom footprint out of polycro aka window weatherproof shrink wrap. It's super light, packs small and is surprisingly strong. I use these mainly to keep the bottom of my tent clean. No sap, dead bugs or junk stuck to the bottom! I haven't made one for my X-mid yet but I imagine it will weigh around an 1 oz. When it gets old and dirty it's a few bucks to make a new one. Tyvek is another option but it's heavier.
