I am currently looking for a 1p tent that I can fit easily inside my hardcases of my Enduro. This seems to fit the bill, but I am a bit of a novice when it comes to trekking poles. I have 16 inches of lenght limitations in the hardcases. Can trekking poles be collapsed to that lenght or do I need to lok for another solution? Could I, for example, purchase aluminum tent poles and use those instead? Bottom line is that the smaller, the better. Constructive feedback will be most appreciated.

DesastorSome trekking may collapse that short but typically 4 piece trekking poles (rather than 3 piece poles) and even then they're commonly too long because one section has the handle (e.g. the Fizan Compact 4 poles here on Drop are 4 piece but still only pack to 19"). But indeed there are other options. If you don't need/want trekking poles you can just buy collapsable poles in aluminum or carbon. TarpTent sells 48" poles that would be about 12" per section plus the 2" ferrule, so about 14" per section. I'm not sure of their exact specs but it seems like these would be under 16". https://www.tarptent.com/product/vertical-support-pole/ You can also build your own poles from tent pole supply companies that are 5 or even 6 sections if you want them fold very short, but there's little reason to have them shorter than 12" since the tent itself is normally 12".

DesastorDan, thank you very much for the helpful links. I was not even aware that these trekking pole tents exist. The fact that I can choose poles or cut branches of trees (hopefully one would not be unessarily destructive) to pitch the tent is just an awesome idea. Given that I travel either solo or w/a riding buddy looks like I'll be needing both tent versions. Perfect timing too bc my Sunseeker is finally on its last poles so to speak after 23 years.
