These are not that great. The sound quality is average at best. Best to save up and buy something far superior, or look for a used pair of M50x.

m50's are too flat in sound, can't handle low basslines (distorts), the headband rubbed off, they have an oldschool design..... i gave them to my brother who's turning into a wook and trys dj'ing tech house

Never heard bass distortion with the ATH-M50 and M50x... they're pretty tight but they are not as bass heavy as other cans. they're designed for pro-mixing and monitoring and are a favorite of DJs, producers, musicians because they are great headphones for the price. They are also easy to drive from all signal sources.

DJ's need VModas, Change my mind. AKG K7XX in the studio too. AtH-m50'S R oV3rRaTeD. ABYSS AB-1266 PHI TC headphones are the only cans i've heard with a more desirable sound signature than VModas. If you get a chance to even try them... Rocky Mountain Audiofest or $5k
